South Africa Racing – Beyondtheboundary going in ‘Wright’ direction

It is rare to see odds-on shots on the Polytrack, let alone in handicaps. It has been the nature of racing at Greyville on that surface, but we may just see one backed to the exclusion of the field on Monday.

His name is Beyondtheboundary and he looks the type who could be headed for better things.

Alyson Wright sends out some useful individuals but the gelded son of Gimmethegreenlight looked head and shoulders above his field last time, beating Cyber Time who then won comfortably, and he could be a star in the making.

He meets a weak field in Race 5, a MR 67 Handicap over 1600m and even trying the poly for first time should not stop this imposing individual.

Wright sends out another good-looking sort in Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1900m. On exposed form and official merit ratings he appears an ordinary individual, but he has not run a bad race in four tries on the turf and more importantly, showed stamina in his last two even though bred for sprints.

What could see him dominate is the fact that he is now racing on the Polytrack. He could put that good cruising speed into play and won’t need to kick late as would be the case on turf.

Continuing with the Wright trend, Winter Waves could add to their festivities if he sees out the trip in Race 4, a MR 67 Handicap over 1600m.

He is probably in most professional’s “black book” as he catches the eye with a good finish but runs on too late over 1400m. He has stamina in his pedigree especially in his female line, but it is interesting he has been kept to short trips until now.

A wide draw is not a hindrance as he usually races at the rear and comes home hard, and barring value bet The Bayou who carries a low weight and has gate No 1, there does not look to be much opposition to mow down.

Also rare is to see a trainer have a four-timer but perhaps Wright will have a good day and Purple Powahouse may provide the purple patch in Race 7. He is capable of winning that race but is a bit of a hothead and has a bit of a wide draw to overcome.
