Trainer Gavin Smith continues to have his runners in good form and does look to hold a number of winning chances at Fairview on Friday when finding winners will not be easy.
Probably the pick of his runners is his stable star Global Drummer in Race 6. Smith has done well to find this race for Global Drummer as the conditions are clearly in his favour.
Global Drummer is already well weighted and just for good measure, good 2.5kg claiming apprentice Kayden Brewer has been booked to ride him.
Global Drummer has won seven of his last eight starts and in his only loss, which was, funnily enough, the one time Warren Kennedy rode him, he finished only 0.90 lengths behind Fly My Flag.
Global Drummer has always been at his very best when allowed a soft lead and he if he gets that again he will be hard to run out of it.
Three others Smith runners make appeal in this eight-race card.
In Race 3 Joe Harman is in good form and looks ready to win his first race but does have Western Cape raider Aeneas to beat. That Swinger and Exacta boxed looks the right play in the race.
In the opening race Forest Spy is clearly the one to beat after a pleasing debut and unless rival trainer Alan Greeff has a star in his yard with his newcomers, Forest Spy should get the yard off to a good start.
Stranger Danger has been very good this season, so it was not much of a surprise that Smith took a chance and sent him to Kenilworth for a big sprint race recently.
Stranger Danger never got into the race at any stage so that run is probably best ignored, and he could bounce back in Race 7 over his favourite course and distance.
