Lady Macbeth, like Shakespeare’s famous character, could be a powerful individual in the making. This William Longsword mare finished behind re-opposing Miss Lialah, Corner Crusade and Top Honours on different occasions. The last three mentioned aren’t going to Hollywood so what gives?
Well, Lady Macbeth has been improving with each start and last time out looked a different runner when storming home to win as she liked. Her half-brother Captain Who also took his time to come to hand and also boasts a big finish. She should jump at decent odds at Greyville on Wednesday 2 March when she contests Race 6, a MR66 Handicap over 1200m. She rates the best value proposition on the card.
Blazing Light should offer some value in Race 1, a 1900m Maiden. Although he doesn’t make the top three (sits at four) in terms of ratings versus weights, he is most definitely not out of it. The runners above him as far as this measure is concerned, have not proven themselves with stamina.
In his first attempt at this distance, Blazing Light showed resilience and determination. He should keep on improving and is worth a solid eachway bet.
Best bet on the day has to be Pacific Winter. This five-year-old gelding finally reclaimed his best form recently, romping home from a bad draw to win his penultimate in style. Trainer Tienie Prinsloo has always held him in high regard, and he may confirm this throughout the season.
To show his well-being he was a good fourth at Scottsville last time out. This time round he has been gifted a plum draw plus sports a 4kg claim which should see an even easier win. He runs in Race 4, a 1000m MR66 Apprentice Handicap. Banker him in all bets.
Other strong form runners to follow are ultra-consistent Princess Donelly (Race 5) and impressive last start winner Final Destiny (Race 8).
