Monday’s race meeting on the Polytrack at Greyville looks particular tricky and catching exotic bet should be quite rewarding.
However, Roy’s Command, who runs in Race 7, a MR 72 Handicap over 1600m, has been dominating his fields recently and stands out as a banker.
Ever since Roy’s Command has been allowed to loaf at the back of the field and then switched on when turning for home, nothing has come close to stopping him over this sort of distance. The big gelding’s merit rating was bumped up 10 points, but he still came home lonely last time, and another five points does not look like to stop him, even if he is up a little in class.
The manner of his victories gives one the impression the handicapper has not been able to reel him in as yet.
Red Sole, who runs in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1400m, should be running in handicaps by now as some of the horses to whom he has run close are racing in the top divisions, including Safe Return who won a MR 96 Handicap a few weeks back.
He has also finished ahead of Conquer The Enemy and Bush Tracker who have also won good races since.
Red Sole has had excuses in his last four starts where he nevertheless ran creditably but it does seem as if 1400m is what he has been waiting for. He could not find a way through last time but having drawn well, should step up to the plate.
Roy’s Command and Red Sole should justify favouritism in their respective races and appear a ready-made double but prices could be quite good in the other races on anything that takes your fancy.
One Too Many (Race 4), Tales Of Us (Race 5) and Bingin Beach (Race 8) look to offer good value in their races.
One Too Many has fluffed his lines since an easy maiden win, but he has been doing too much up front and if given a chance to switch off could reward followers. Tales Of Us needed his last race badly, is now back over his best distance and runs in a poor field. He must have an each-way chance.
Bingin Beach has everything in her favour – current form, the best of the draws and the pedigree for the longer trip, but the race is still wide open and she could go off at decent odd.
