Trainer Gavin Smith continues to be in good form and rival Alan Greeff has his work cut out to catch him for this season’s Eastern Cape Champion Trainer title.
It is likely Smith will draw first blood at Fairview on Friday as his charge in the Race 2, filly Red Sphere, should be hard to beat.
It is a weak race, and this Ideal World filly has the best form on paper.
A race earlier it could be worth taking a boxed Trifecta as the three likely to fight out the finish are Kuznetsov, Last Storm and Zatara Magic.
Greeff could pull a winner back in Race 3 as his filly, For All We Know, proved just in need of her local debut and with the blinkers back on, she could beat some modest rivals.
The most interesting race on the day comes up is Race 6, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m as Santa Therese and Musical Glitch meet again, and both are in good form.
There was very little between them when they met at this course in August 2021 and with the weights between them the same, it should be a competitive finish.
Santa Therese has been the more reliable of this pair, but trainer Glen Kotzen has a good strike rate when raiding the Eastern Cape and Musical Glitch will be right there at the finish.
