Punters may have a difficult card ahead of them for this meeting at Hollywoodbets Scottsville but like as trainer Sean Tarry has had so much success at this Pietermaritzburg racecourse, it may pay to be with his runner, Double Martini.

This Twice Over gelding lines up in Race 5, a MR 67 Handicap over 1400m. He has shown some consistency of late and won a nice race on the Polytrack at Greyville last time out.

The handicapper took note of that win and raised him a full six points but that and a tough draw of No 10 for jockey Keegan de Melo may still not be enough to stop him.

The one concern is that this will be his first race at Scottsville and the undulating track does not always suit every horse, especially on debut.

The excellent year for trainer Paul Peter continues and he has two improving runners in the first race.

They may have the Glen Kotzen runner Imposing to beat in Race 1, a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m, but it would not be a surprise if either United Prince or Timeinthewoods were to win. Based on the jockey arrangements one has to believe that United Prince is the stable’s first choice as it will be ridden by Warren Kennedy.

Trainer Tony Rivalland and jockey Sean Veale make a decent combination and Bella Starbuster could pop up and run a decent race in Race 3, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1750m

She is clearly better than her last run would suggest.
