Penang trainer, Sharee Hamilton is coming off a personal best four winners in KL last Sunday and her stable will have a strong hand in the 1100m Open Maiden as part of Perak Turf Club’s seven race program on Sunday commencing at 2.15pm. With three of the eight runners representing the yard the win statistic, which currently reads 26 winners striking at 8.2% for the season, can be improved upon.
It is not an overly strong maiden race but SIMLONG BEACH does possess the race experience and recent formline to break through at start number eleven. The four year old mare was only placed for the first time last start against Class 5 opposition but she does strike a tame field and should prove hard to beat under the weight for age conditions. SKY DRAGON is a four year old debutant and appears well tuned for a first up tilt following some fair performances at the Penang trials. Other stable runner, ROCK ARTIST is yet to place in ten outings but is expected to improve. POWERFUL DRAGON may step up this preparation and will strip fitter from his resumption to racing following a five month spell.
Promising three year old HAZARD returns after five weeks off the scene and will prove a formidable rival for his older and more seasoned campaigners in the 1100m Class 4 Handicap. The New Zealand bred youngster, with a record of 2 wins from 4 starts, accounted for a Class 4 lineup in Penang two starts back before finishing unplaced at the same track on June 5. However, there were excuses as the horse returned with respiratory distress but can easily bounce back following his trial on Tuesday where he sprinted well reeling off a quick final section.
Two of the other chances have drawn wide including DIRECTOR, who is on the class drop while TRINITY GRACE provides the speed influence and will be looking to take a forward position from barrier rise. TALENTED has been ultra consistent this season and is yet to miss a place in three tries at this grade while MR AK should settle on pace and is a worthy trifecta chance.
malSUPER SIXTYONE looks ideally placed to win the 1200m Class 5 contest after finishing twice from as many starts in the country. The horse formerly known as Winning Hammer was a beaten favourite in KL but was bumped at the start losing early momentum and perhaps a fraction unlucky not to win. The six year old should atone and gets his chance to record his first Malaysian victory.
