Two divisions of the Class 3 (1200m and 1400m) will headline the ten race card at Selangor Turf Club this Saturday featuring some progressive types in good form heading northwards in their respective ratings.
One of those is the promising four year old FLYING DURUMI who is engaged in the 1400m division, and has not put a foot wrong since winning at his Malaysian debut back in January. The American bred performer has posted an impressive resume so far with 3 wins and 3 placings from 6 starts and steps up to Class 3 company for the first time. Jockey L Desouza has been reacquainted with the gelding and the weight drop of 4.5kg should prove significant in the gelding’s quest for a hat trick of wins.
Another horse on the rise is SKYFALL which is also building a handy local record of 3 wins and 4 placings from 8 starts. The consistent five year old was placed in this grade last start although he was safely held finishing 6.5 lengths behind the smart Gamestonks here over 1250m.
SKYFALL has previously lowered the colours of FLYING DURUMI when the pair last met in an Open Novice event back in February.
BRUCE ALNAUGHTY can also bounce back from his last start defeat and is a Class 3 winner following his 1500m victory here on May 8 which topped off a hat trick of wins. The four year old was freshened prior to his first local defeat over the mile but he drops to a more suitable distance. DANCING RAIN was impressive in winning that 1600m contest on June 25 and with luck from the outside barrier must once again come into calculations.
The 1200m Class 3 features last start winners HIJUAN VALDOR and NO FUN NO GAIN who are on the upgrade following their respective Class 4 wins at their most recent starts. HIJUAN VALDOR, formerly known as Cousteau in Singapore, impressed at his second Malaysian outing after sitting parked outside a fast speed throughout before recording a decisive victory over the 1100m trip.
NO FUN NO GAIN made the perfect start in the country when closing off well from midfield to score here over 1200m. It was the gelding’s first run in eight months and all five of his career wins have been over the 1200m trip.
The six year old mare SCOOBY DOOBY DOO may have trained off slightly this preparation but she has won three times this season and is a Class
3 winner in April. She was unsuited by the 1500m trip two starts back and she worked hard from gate 11 when finishing unplaced over 1100m here on June 19. She has been freshened and can bounce back without surprising.
TRINITY GENERAL resumes for the new stable of Tiang Kim Choi and is a first up winner previously. The five year old has trained on well and looked sharp at the trials Tuesday week ago.
