Ipoh Racing Preview By Mark Lydeamore For 7 Aug

No features on the card of racing this Sunday but the Class 5 and Class 4 performers will be accommodated for during the eight race program at Perak Turf Club.

SUPER SIXTY ONE and WINNER NUMBER ONE finished 1st and 2nd at the last meeting here a month ago and are set for a rematch in the 1200m Arcturius Handicap (Race 4). SUPER SIXTYONE was able to outsprint his rivals after settling on the speed recording a 1.5 length victory. WINNER NUMBER ONE tried to lead all the way on that occasion but does meet SUPER SIXTYONE better at the weights after the apprentice claim comes into play and a result reversal would not surprise. D’ GREAT DUCHESS is also well weighted after the claim and looks a genuine trifecta chance along with eight year old CHERISH, who was a track and distance winner two starts back.

Seven year old galloper PERFORMANTE, a recent addition to the leading stables of Cheng Han Yong, dominated at the Selangor trials Tuesday week ago scoring by ten lengths. The time was on standard but he looked sharp and should improve on his current uninspiring form line where he failed to win from nineteen outings in Singapore. Another ex-Kranji galloper, FIRE AWAY has not been seen at the trials and resumes from a twelve month break. The seven year old grey did reach Class 3 level earlier in his career and possesses a good first up record. JULIUS CAESAR can be a hard horse to catch at times and must be given a chance in a race which lacks depth.

Ultra consistent performer, GOLDEN HORSE can bounce back to winning form in the 1400m Canopus Handicap (Race 3) following two placings from as many starts in Class 3 grade. The six year old can break the ice at this level from barrier 3. PENDRAGON PRINCESS may be getting on in age but the mare remains competitive at this level. The eight year old is a fast and reliable beginner and she looked impressive winning a trial here on Tuesday.
