Penang Racing Preview By Mark Lydeamore For 22 Oct

A mix of Class 4 and Class 5 races will make up the eight race program at Penang Turf Club on Saturday commencing at 1.45pm.

The first of the Class 4 events (Race 4) over 1200m is an open contest as QIJI LOVE steps up to this grade for the first time and will be aiming for the winning hat trick. It is not an overly strong Class 4 race as the top weighted BAKUTEH is rated at 50 points compared to QIJI LOVE, who is the bottom weight with a rating of 44 points. More than half the field are yet to win at Class 4 level and one of those in that category, BANGKOK BOY could be the value runner in the event. His recent efforts have been encouraging and is normally ridden from the back. BALL AND CHAIN is coming off two recent placings in the grade and is capable of breaking through at this level while HARVEYWALLBANGER is down to a low enough rating where he is ready to strike for the first time since January this year.

Another galloper which has discovered a new lease on life is the five year old grey, HARLEY FLAME which is coming off two wins in a row, both in soft going. The New Zealand bred performer will be meeting tougher opposition this time in the other 1200m Class 4 event (Race 5). HAZARD has been an enigmatic performer where he does mix his form and can be hard to follow. The four year old had no luck last start but he does require a dry track to perform at his optimum. BAGHDAD deserves to win a Class 4 race and should prove hard to beat on the minimum. PERFECT MISSION is a handy sit sprinter who can defy the class rise while MR G resumes with the top weight and is a first up winner previously.
