Course A will be in operation for Sunday’s program of racing at Selangor Turf Club with the rail out 4m for the entire circuit. The card will feature the return of talented performer WATCH THE THRONE in the 1400m Combined Class 2/3 event. The HY Cheng trained galloper has been off the scene since he sustained a bleeding attack in December last year. Now a seven year old, WATCH THE THRONE won at his first six race starts during 2020 rising to the open grades before finishing 3rd in his next two outings. The gelding has trialled twice in recent weeks and wasn’t overtaxed when placed in a barrier practice here on Tuesday morning. ARC TRIUMPH has race fitness on his side and has been very competitive in the higher grades this year chalking up placings behind Selangor Gold Cup winner Black Thorn and place getter Lonely Boy. Those form lines should stand him in good stead and he looks perfectly placed from the good barrier. TOPMOST looks best of the lightweights and is coming off a narrow 2nd at Ipoh where he attracted market support and will carry 5kg less on that performance. CHEVAL RAPIDE backs up from his 1250m win last Sunday from the wide draw and once again will have the services of leading apprentice, Clyde Leck who is currently 2nd on the jockeys premiership with an astonishing 21% win strike rate.
One of the best performances emanating from last Sunday’s meeting was EL MACHO, who arguably produced one of the fastest closing sectionals for the day when finishing a short head 2nd over 1300m. The six year old will be third up in the 1250m Class 5 contest (Race 4) and looks ready to win. BANGALORE should prove hard to beat also as he never takes long to strike back when dropping back to Class 5 company and is coming off a good trial on Tuesday. Others to watch from recent trials include former Singapore galloper, NATE’S HONOUR who is first up for three months while PRATT STREET was given a quiet trial here recently and has dropped to a winnable rating.
