CATSKILL WELL PLACED FOR POY

Four-year-old gelding CATSKILL can go back-to-back this Monday when he lines up in the $27,000 BM58 race over 2100m at Ballarat racecourse, Australia.

Following a close second at this track and distance two starts ago, CATSKILL went on to shed his maiden tag easily at Echuca last start. Making it a one act affair that day, the Rip Van Winkle gelding bounced straight to the lead and never looked in danger throughout, drawing away to score by five lengths over this distance.

Now that the penny has dropped for CATSKILL, he looks more than capable of handling this week’s moderate field and can prove hard to run down under jockey Michael Poy.

THE STUFF OF LEGENDS

Star four-year-old DEAUVILLE LEGEND is primed to score this year’s edition of the G1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday.

DEAUVILLE LEGEND’S most recent win on August 17, when he cruised to a 2.8L win in the G2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, solidified his spot as favourite for the race while infusing his trainer with the confidence needed going into the event.

DEAUVILLE LEGEND has three-time Cup-winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle, a huge positive which stands him out as hard to beat.
