NUGGET LOOKS GOLD

Quality six-year-old gelding NUGGET can score two wins on end when he steps out in the $150,000 Benchmark 88 Handicap over 1600m from Randwick on Saturday.

NUGGET is on his third Australian start this week after arriving from the UK with plenty of form on the board. The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained bay wasted no time in finding his feet Down Under, checking home a solid second on debut in early November before going one place better second-up a few weeks later, cruising to a near three-length victory.

On an upward trend with plenty of wins to come, NUGGET can continue his winning ways stepping away from barrier 1 on Saturday.

ALSEPHINA SHOOTING FOR FOUR

Highly promising four-year-old mare ALSEPHINA can score four wins in a row this Saturday when she lines up in the $80,000 RTG72+ race over 1600m at Ascot racecourse, Australia.

ALSEPHINA boasts an impressive record of six wins and two placings from eight starts and she has been on a winning streak of three. The daughter of Star Turn is off the back of a facile first-up win mid-last month when she travelled off the speed before letting down well to score by 0.75 lengths over 1400m at this track.

ALSEPHINA has been improving with each run thus far and rising to a mile should suit her even better this week. With champion jockey William Pike remaining in the saddle, she looks on track to continue her winning ways.

JACK TO BOUNCE BACK

Quality galloper DETONATOR JACK can go one place better this Saturday when he contests the $150,000 BM100 race over 1600m at Sandown racecourse, Australia.

DETONATOR JACK finished third in the G1 South Australia Derby over 2500m three starts ago and he has been racing well since resuming from a five-month break in November. The Jakkalberry gelding scored an impressive first-up win at Flemington two starts ago before finding one too good in a BM84 race last time out.

Despite the rise in class this week, DETONATOR JACK will only carry 54kg and stepping up to 1600m, where he is one from one, can prove him hard to hold out.
