ALSEPHINA CHASES FIVE WINS ON END

Smart four-year-old mare ALSEPHINA is primed to land five wins in succession when she contests the $125,000 Listed Starstruck Classic over 1600m from Ascot racecourse, Australia on Saturday.

ALSEPHINA is a seven-time winner and two-time place-getter from nine starts for trainers Grant & Alana Williams and her winning streak began in late September. Since then, the daughter of Star Turn has found no one better in four starts, winning over distances from 1400m to 1650m.

Unbeaten on four starts at this track, with a perfect one-from-one at the track and distance, ALSEPHINA looks all set to continue her statistical trend under top jockey William Pike, who has steered ALSEPHINA to victory on her last two starts.

AL PAL’S GAL TO ATONE

Three-year-old filly AL PAL’S GAL can make amends for her last start defeat this Saturday when she lines up in the $21,500 Class 2 race over 870m at Toowoomba racecourse.

A two-time winner with further three placings from 10 starts, AL PAL’S GAL was a facile winner at this track and distance three starts ago. The Spirit Of Boom filly was heavily backed as the odds-on favourite first-up last week, but she probably found the 1000m trip a bit too long and finished third beaten half a length that day.

AL PAL’S GAL is highly suited by dropping back to 870m, where she is two from two thus far, and in a small field of seven this week, she is expected to dictate on her own terms and can prove hard to run down under jockey Nathan Evans.

ROSE QUARTZ TO SHINE

Quality mare ROSE QUARTZ looks on track to return to the winner’s list this Sunday when she contests the $200,000 Listed Kensington Stakes over 1000m at Flemington racecourse, Australia.

ROSE QUARTZ boasts a great record of four wins and three placings from 11 starts and she outperformed her ratings with a solid second in the Listed Doveton Stakes at Caufield last time out. Despite drawn wide that day, the Written Tycoon mare flashed home late with the fastest final 400m sectional time, missing by only 0.75 lengths over this distance.

From an ideal draw this week, ROSE QUARTZ should endure a perfect run in transit, and standing out as the form choice, she can prove hard to hold out.
