BURNT SUGAR is a Global View newcomer who could be ready to win. Trainer Gavin Smith won the opening juvenile event and has three runners carded – and your guess is as good as mine as to which one of them is the right one. FIRE GLOW is a daughter of Fire Away, HILDELITA is a Vercingetorix filly. PARIS LASS is by Visionaire.

Race Summary: Trainer Gavin Smith holds a very strong hand. FOREST SPY is a classy sprinter and if fit and well should be very hard to beat. It is hard to know yet what will be the best distance for ZATARA MAGIC but one thing for sure is he is talented and will run well. JET MIRAGE ran a cracker in a decent field last week and should be a danger if repeating that level of form. It does look a tough task for the balance of the runners and although RUSSIAN EMPIRE surprised us last time out this is a tougher task.

Race Summary: The Alan Greeff yard remains a bit under a cloud with many disappointments over the recent months and one of them was LADY CHARTOUCHE. After a good debut she was expected to win her second start but may not have liked the Polytrack. Back on turf she gets the chance to recoup those losses. CHELSEA GARDEN and HONEY LAND make their local debuts and could improve on their form. TIDE IS HIGH is clearly better than her two local runs. Watch the betting on newcomers COLD TRUTH, POMODORO MAGIC and QUEEN’S GAMBIT.

Race Summary: A tough race and we may need to go wide to survive the exotics. ROSE OF BAYEAUX has been a revelation since joining the yard of Duncan Mckenzie but it will get tougher for her now. HOLLY’S VIEW did not show her best on the Polytrack last time out and will do better back on the turf. GLASS SHOES won nicely on debut and was not disgraced on the Polytrack last time. She could also do a lot better back on turf. HILARITY has yet to win in this country but has run some fair races and must be considered. DAUGHTER OF ZEUS makes her local debut and could improve.

Race Summary: GLOBETONIC has looked good in his two recent wins and could complete the hat-trick but it is a large field handicap. KLASERIE was not disgraced when raiding the Western Cape last time out and has been in good form at this track so should be a danger. PICTURE THE MOMENT is course-and-distance suited and is not out of it. PERSICA has some fair recent form in better races than this and must be considered. BETHEL is unreliable but deserves respect. ROGER THE DODGER could be the surprise package returning to the turf.

Race Summary: A tough race to be confident in finding the winner. GLOBAL GODDESS looked a bit unlucky last time and could go one better. Stable companion MISS MILLSTREAM is clearly a lot better than her most recent run would suggest. DIVINE DYNASTY was not disgraced on local debut and should have more to come. ROSA DOURADA showed improvement last time around. JUST POWER makes a local debut and is worth including in all exotic perms. SARAJEVO is badly drawn but could surprise. KAVIAN’S CARA prefers the turf and should be in the shake-up.

Race Summary: WAITING FOR SUMMER has been a disappointment of late but if he shows his best form he clearly has the beating of these rivals. ASSURED is unreliable but could earn some money. KING’S CRUSADE was well beaten on local debut but could contest the finish. TWICE TO HEAVEN returned to form with a nice win last time out but carries a penalty for that success. ATKINSON GRIMSHAW is consistent but does also battle to win. SECRET IS OURS needed his local debut and should do a lot better. ALADO’S PRIDE ran on nicely last time out and must be respected.

Race Summary: A lot of these runners are carded to have run on Friday 30 December and we will need to have looked at how they performed. GUY ALEXANDER has fair Western Cape form and holds a winning chance in this line-up. JACK AND GINGER battles to finish off his races but does have a winning chance over a course and distance that suits. AMERICAN LANDING has not won in some time now but should be competitive once again. YOUNG NELSON does not always show his best form but is not out of it if he does. TOZZETTI is back on the turf and must be considered a possible winner.
