The 1400m Racing Reboot Handicap (Race 3) is the high grade race for Sunday’s meeting and despite the outside draw, BUDDY SIXTY-ONE (5) has the credentials to return to winning form. After scoring at his local debut here on October 29, the 7yo has been heavily supported in two starts since and is coming off a 3rd placing in a strong Class 4 contest in KL a month ago. He is likely to start favorite after being freshened and comes from a stable in good form at the moment.
TRAFALGAR (4) has changed stables recently and is one to watch resuming from a bleeding attack sustained back in September. The gelding looked sharp and ready when placed in a KL trial on Wednesday morning.
The recent form for HENG KINGDOM (3) may not be overly inspiring but the gelding has descended down to a winnable rating for premiership trainer, HY Cheng. The 8yo failed to win in eight starts last year but looks suited dropping back to the B division of this Class 4 event.
MYSTERIOUS CAPTAIN (11) goes up in grade following his 1200m Class 5 victory in KL at only his second race start. PURPLE RAIN LADY (9) may be one for the trifecta if a wet track prevails come Sunday.
Race 3 Selections: 5 – 4 – 3 – 11
BARBARIAN (4) can bounce back to winning form second up from a spell in the 1100m Curtain Raiser Handicap (Race 5). The 6yo drew deep when runner up in Penang over 1200m on Christmas Day and looks ideally placed to start from pole position.
SIEW YUK (10) has been racing well and should be peaking following four runs this preparation. The 6yo looks a chance at the weights and is one to consider if the track is wet.
STORM TO WIN (3) won three races in the country last year, two on wet tracks and draws the outside barrier. The gelding did win from gate 13 at Penang in August so the draw may not be a hindrance.
PLACE YOUR BET (2) and SPEEDY DEMON (6) have had little luck in recent outings and are worthy contenders for the trifecta.
Race 5 Selections: 4 – 10 – 3 – 6
