KING OF SPARTA READY FOR BATTLE
Smart four-year-old KING OF SPARTA is all set to claim in the $1 million Magic Millions Snippets over 1200m from the Gold Coast Racecourse, Australia, on Saturday.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained talent boasts a strong record of five wins and four placings from 18 career starts, last seen winning first-up off a four-month break in the Listed Falvelon Stakes over 1200m at Doomben on 24 December. Mapping back in the field as per usual, KING OF SPARTA let down powerfully with his trademark turn-of-foot to win going away by close to 1.5 lengths. This time last year, the son of I Am Invincible was seen winning the $2 million Magic Millions Three-Year-old Guineas over 1400m.
KING OF SPARTA gets champion jockey James McDonald back in the saddle on Saturday, who has ridden the gelding twice throughout his career for a win and a second placing in two consecutive starts in 2021, while meeting what looks a sub-par field stands him out as hard to beat.
SNAPPED STRIPS FITTER
Promising four-year-old mare SNAPPED can go back-to-back in the $150,000 BM78 race over 1100m at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
SNAPPED boasts an eye-catching record of three wins from five starts in Victoria and she looked to have relished a five-month break prior to scoring an impressive first-up win at Sandown two weeks ago. Settling towards the rear that day, the Not A Single Doubt mare utilized her strong turn of foot to overhaul her rivals easily, scoring by 2.75 length over 1000m.
This week, SNAPPED will strip even fitter second-up and from pole position, she can prove hard to hold with the apprentice claim.
WALK TALL WITH CUMMINGS
The James Cummings-trained three-year-old SPACEWALK can land his second career win this Saturday when he lines up in the $150,000 BM88 race over 1100m at Rosehill Gardens.
A one-time winner with further four placings from eight starts, SPACEWALK broke his maiden at Canterbury five starts ago before racing against quality opposition in black-type races at his subsequent four starts. Despite not winning, the son of Exosphere was far from disgraced with two seconds at Listed level and a third in a Group 3 race.
SPACEWALK has trialled well for his return and standing out as the best horse going forward, he looks ideally weighted to score despite meeting a small but quality field first-up.
