A marathon twelve race card will be conducted at the Selangor Turf Club on Sunday featuring an interesting 1400m Class 3 contest (Race 7) where a promising performer from last year will make his race track return.
The Richard Lines trained FLYING DURUMI (3) progressed through the grades with 4 wins and 4 placings from 9 starts during his first preparation. The five year old’s only unplaced effort was last start on October 16 where he failed to run out the 1700m trip when coming off a seven week break. Jockey Ruzaini Supien has a 100% strike (2/2) rate on the gelding and from barrier 2, he will start the likely favourite.
GOLDEN KING (6) ran above expectations when gaining a start as an emergency acceptor in the G1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor, finishing runner up to Teller beaten 0.75L. The 4yo has only scored twice in its career, including his sole Malaysian victory over the mile back in October.
TRINITY GENERAL (4) will resume since failing over 1250m on October 16 where he led and weakened. The 6yo was coming to the end of a busy preparation that day and will benefit from the break. The gelding looked sharp in a trial win here Tuesday week ago.
BRUCE ALNAUGHTY (5) won four times last year and has returned to his best form this campaign with a 1500m victory in a combined Class 3/4 race hare last month. The 5yo was not disgraced when 3rd in a Class 3 race a fortnight ago from a wide draw and is one to include in trifectas.
Race 7 Selections: 3 – 6 – 4 – 5
Former Australian galloper, BEIHEI CAPTAIN (1) also returns to the track in the 1300m Open Novice (Race 8). After showing potential from two starts in the country, including his maiden victory on September 11 last year, the 4yo will be looking to add to his win tally this preparation.
RUNNING SPIRIT (3) made rapid improvement when breaking his maiden tag in November before finishing 2nd in Class 4 company last start.
MAGIC SIXTY-ONE (4) broke through over 1175m on the inner track defeating FANTASTIC (6) by a head on December 31. Both gallopers are in good form and are worth following.
Race 8 Selections: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6
