Saturday’s on course meeting will cater for the Class 5 and Class 4 performers with the nine-race program commencing at 1.15pm.
The first of two divisions for the Class 4 (Race 1) is over the mile and contains a few winning chances including three runners, CAVALLA COURT (4), BACK TO THE FUTURE (7) and SHANGHAI CAPTAIN (9) who have all been upgraded following last start wins in Class 5 company.
CAVALLA COURT (4) will resume following two starts in the country which culminated in an all the way victory over 1300m at Penang in November last year. The seven-year-old has placed up to the mile previously and his chances will be enhanced if a wet track prevails.
SHANGHAI CAPTAIN (9) is lining up for the hat trick following two victories over the 1600m and can also strike at his first appearance in Class 4 grade.
PURPLE RAIN LADY (5) is a proven miler with a solid record on wet tracks.
RS DIAGO (1) sustained a respiratory problem when 4th in KL on December 11 and steps up to this distance for the first time. Despite going up 7kg, the four-year-old strikes a slightly weaker lineup.
BACK TO THE FUTURE (7) finally broke through after a string of minor placings and has scored at Class 4 in the past. The gelding possesses a good record over the mile with 3 wins and 3 placings from 6 tries at the trip and gains the benefit of an apprentice claim.
Race 1 Selections: 4 – 9 – 5 – 1
The second division of the Class 4 over 1200m (Race 6) appears wide open. PERFECT MISSION (10) is well weighted and was a track/distance winner at his only Ipoh appearance back in November. The six-year-old draws better this time around.
GEORGETOWN (3) has recaptured his best form coming off successive placings and is a six-time winner over the 1200m journey.
QASAR (7) and BALL AND CHAIN (8) finished 1st and 2nd respectively in a 1200m contest last month and are worthy trifecta chances.
SILENT BOSS (1) drops in grade but requires luck from the outside barrier.
