A SECRET WEAPON SET TO LAUNCH
High-quality three-year-old filly IN SECRET looks all set to go bang first-up when she resumes in the $250,000 Light Fingers Stakes over 1200m from Randwick Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
The James Cumming-trained, Godolphin-owned talent was a force to be reckoned with throughout her first year of racing in 2022, winning four races from six starts while finishing runner-up on two other occasions, but arguably should only have one defeat to her name if not for a luckless first-up on 20 August. On her last start on 29 October, IN SECRET claimed her first Group 1 success, posting an impressive two-length victory in the $2 million Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m at Flemington Racecourse.
With her key rival ZOUGOTCHA scratched during the week because of a high temperature, IN SECRET’S job has been made all the more easy first-up, and with strong rider Nash Rawiller in the saddle from barrier 3, it looks like her race to lose.
BELLA MAE LOOKING MIGHTY FINE
Up-and-coming filly MY BELLA MAE can score back-to-back wins when she takes her place in the $125,000 Listed Cyril Flower Stakes over 1200m from Ascot Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
MY BELLA MAE has only tasted defeat on one occasion in her short five-start career, which was two starts ago in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes when she crossed the line 3.7 lengths into ninth – a fair effort after getting too far back in the run. The daughter of Deep Field subsequently bounced back in a big way by winning an $80k Three-Year-Old race, reverting to her on-pace profile and scoring easily by over a length.
Though facing a strong field on Saturday, MY BELLA MAE is on the up and the light weight and low draw should ensure she gets all the favours.
A HELLUVA LOY
Promising three-year-old HELLUVA BARTY looks on track to land a double in the $85,000 QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap over 1200m at Doomben racecourse this Saturday.
HELLUVA BARTY had been rested for three months since being placed at his first two career starts and he resumed with an impressive first-up win at this track and distance early last month. Despite drawn wide that day, the Hellbent gelding was heavily backed and duly saluted, charging home strongly to score by 3.25 lengths.
This week, HELLUVA BARTY is well placed in a big field injected with plenty of speed, which should suit his racing pattern to a tee, therefore he can prove hard to hold out under jockey Brodie Loy.
