AFT CABIN MAKES IT LOOK EASY
Highly progressive three-year-old colt AFT CABIN can complete a hat-trick of wins when he races second-up in the Hobartville Stakes over 1400m from Rosehill Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
The James Cummings-trained, Godolphin-owned AFT CABIN has looked every bit a start in the making since making his racetrack debut in late July last year. In five career starts so far, the son of Astern is yet to miss the frame, winning on three occasions and runner-up a further two times but arguably should have another win to his name if not for a luckless run in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes at Caulfield in September last year.
AFT CABIN bounced back in a big way subsequently, winning the Caulfield Guineas Prelude by 3.5 lengths before spelling for five months and resuming in the Group 3 General Eskimo Prince Stakes on 4 February. Despite the long break and being suspect at 1200m, AT CABIN’S class was on full display, winning easily by close to two lengths. Looking the major player across Autumn Carnival, AFT CABIN should be making lightwork of his rivals again.
PRAWNS PRIMED FIRST-UP
Talented colt PRAWNS ELEVEN is primed to score a first-up win when he resumes in the $60,000 Special Conditions Handicap over 1200m from Pinjarra Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
PRAWNS ELEVEN boasts a solid 50 per cent winning strike rate of three wins from six starts, with a further two placings to his name. He was last seen finishing down the track in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes but cast a plate that day. Prior, he was runner-up in a race of this nature at Ascot.
PRAWNS ELEVEN looks the standout in this week’s field and with champion jockey William Pike engaged to ride, it suggests he’s primed and ready to go first-up.
RING THE BELL AT GOSFORD
In-form mare PATRIKA MIST can score three wins in succession this Saturday when she contests the $40,000 BM64 race over 1600m at Gosford racecourse, Australia.
A three-time winner from seven starts, PATRIKA MIST has shown vast improvement recently, winning her last two starts in emphatic style. Two starts ago, the Smart Missile mare demolished a Class 1 field at Canberra before defying the rise in class last time out, when utilizing her strong turn of foot to score by a comfortable margin of 1.5 lengths over this distance at Sapphire Coast.
PATRIKA MIST appears to sit on an upward spiral and she is well placed in a field with plenty of speed this week, which holds her in good stead to be hard to hold out under jockey Mitchell Bell.
