Race 7 – PRIX DE L’EMPEREUR NAPOLEON III – 2000m CLM. Purse EUR €23,000.
- SWEET DEVILDARLING – Has been well held at both starts to date, the latest when sixth over 2150m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Doesn’t appeal.
- ZELINA – Good effort last start to win her maiden over 2350m at Machecoul at just her second appearance by 3.5 lengths. Fitter and is a leading player.
- REBEL ANGEL – Progressive filly. Got off the mark last time with a one length victory over 1739m at Wolverhampton AW (UK). One of the major players.
- TOP DAAY – Wasn’t expected to do much when fresh from a spell last start at Chantilly All Weather over 1900m and wound up in 13th, beaten 18 lengths. Can do much better this time with the run under her belt.
- MANDEGA – Reliable colt with a solid top-three strike rate. Good effort last start but found a couple better when third over 1700m at Pornichet. Rates highly.
- ROYAL POST OFFICE – Solid effort last start when resuming, beaten 1.5 lengths into fourth over 2100m at Pornichet. Worth including.
- EL CAZADOR – Has not raced since finishing 22 lengths away in 13th over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather on November 24. Did place first-up last prep at Longchamp. Has solid claims while fresh.
- ISOLA DI CAPRI – Has been out of the money recently including last start when eighth over 1800m at Chantilly All Weather six-and-a-half weeks ago, beaten 19 lengths. Certainly worth another chance.
Summary: REBEL ANGEL (3) showed some consistent form on the AW in the UK before getting off the mark in a Wolverhampton AW (UK) handicap in January. Notable claims on French debut with the possibility of more to come on turf. The unexposed ZELINA (2) got off the mark at the second attempt when winning a 2350m maiden at Machecoul. Interesting contender. MANDEGA (5) was sent off a short-price to win a 1700m AW claimer at Pornichet last outing but could only manage third. Dangerous to discount alongside the class-dropping ISOLA DI CAPRI (8) who must be respected on ratings.
Selections
REBEL ANGEL (3) – ZELINA (2) – MANDEGA (5) – ISOLA DI CAPRI (8)
Race 8 – PRIX GEORGES SANDOR – HANDICAP CHALLENGE – 2200m CLM CL4 HCP. Purse EUR €16,000.
- MATTINA FORZA – Steps out for the first time for the Frederic Gelhay yard off a break of 11 months. Wait and see how she returns.
- KING MOTIF – Five-year-old gelding who races well over this distance. Easily accounted for last time out when seventh over 3200m at Chantilly All Weather. Terrific chance in a suitable contest.
- TCHAKOVA – Finished 13th when fresh from a spell last start, beaten 16 lengths over 1800m at Lyon-la-Soie. Will come on from that run and is among the better hopes.
- GIOVANNI DAL PONTE – Has struggled to make his mark of late, the most recent effort a fifth over 1900m at Deauville All Weather five-and-a-half weeks ago. Genuine hope.
- CRUELLA DE VIL – Last start was back on May 29 2021 when third over 1950m at Chateaubriant. Has since gone to a new yard. A bright start to the campaign looks on the cards.
- ROCK OF SPIRIT – Has been out of the money recently including last start when seventh over 1900m at Deauville All Weather three-and-a-half weeks ago, beaten 7 lengths. Hard to have.
- WHEEL OF CHANCE – Resuming from a spell. Yet to find the placings in five first-up runs. Likely to need this outing.
- SILVER CONDOR – Has been out of the money in recent runs including last time out when sixth over 2700m at Chantilly All Weather a week-and-a-half ago, beaten 2.25 lengths. Hard to fault if at his best.
- SCRAT – Stepping out at this course for the first time. Last appeared when she finished third over 2000m at Pau All Weather on February 19. Further improvement is anticipated.
Summary: KING MOTIF (2) won a Class Four conditions event at Machecoul prior to finishing seventh in a stronger looking handicap over 3200m at Chantilly AW. Leading hope back down in standard having been supplemented. SCRAT (9) produced a sound effort when third in a 2000m claiming handicap at Pau AW last-time-out. Strong chance if replicating recent form on turf. TCHAKOVA (3) would hold claims on her efforts in handicap company at Le Mans and Longchamp late last year and SILVER CONDOR (8) is not dismissed.
Selections
KING MOTIF (2) – SCRAT (9) – TCHAKOVA (3) – SILVER CONDOR (8)
Race 9 – PRIX JEAN GILLOIS – 2200m MDN. Purse EUR €27,000.
- SAFIYAH GLORY – Drew wide on debut last start and finished fifth, beaten 7 lengths over 2100m at Pornichet. Can improve.
- MA LIBERTE – Progressive filly resuming today after two runs in her maiden campaign, the latest effort a third over 1900m at Deauville All Weather on November 30. Progressive and expected to measure up.
- APODICTIQUE – Resumes. Finished off last campaign with a eighth over 1900m at Cholet on October 22. Likely to need this run.
- AIGRETTE – Resumes after a spell of three months. On debut was eighth over 1900m at Deauville All Weather. Sure to have improved.
- RISKY LIGHT – Has been very poor in both efforts to date, beaten 26 lengths last time out over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather. Form reversal unlikely.
- CAMELOT SONG – Progressive filly resuming today after two runs in her maiden campaign, the latest effort a third over 1600m at Deauville on August 25. Progressive and expected to measure up.
- SOLEIL D’ARIZONA – Filly by Prince Gibraltar from Roxanne on debut. Purchased for EUR 15,000 (Arqana 2021 February Mixed Sale). Prefer to see.
- SQUASHA – Unraced filly by Golden Horn out of Australienne. Betting to provide the best guide.
- ZOOKS – Unraced filly by Camelot out of Tristesse. Nice profile and expected to measure up.
Summary: An interesting maiden for the three-year-old fillies where a chance is taken on the newcomer ZOOKS (9). The Wertheimer-owned daughter of Camelot should relish this test on debut and can go well under Cristian Demuro. Market support for fellow newcomer SQUASHA (8) would be of note for the same owners. That said the bigger threat may lie with CAMELOT SONG (6) who steps up in trip following a promising third over 1600m at Deauville in August. MA LIBERTE (2) finished a sound third tackling 1900m on the AW at Deauville in November and should also appreciate stretching out in journey.
Selections
ZOOKS (9) – SQUASHA (8) – CAMELOT SONG (6) – MA LIBERTE (2)
Race 10 – PRIX DES GRANDS CERFS – 2200m MDN. Purse EUR €27,000.
- CHAMP LIBRE – Made a promising debut at Chantilly All Weather last start finishing third over 1900m. Same jockey Cristian Demuro engaged. Has upside and is expected to go well.
- GATSBY POWER – Resumes after a spell of three-and-a-half months. Only had one run in the maiden prep and was easily accounted for over 1800m at this track. Will be better for the run.
- ALMAGRO – Good effort on debut last start when fourth and beaten 2.5 lengths over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather. The race experience will be invaluable. Solid contender.
- ZILRAK – Has not raced since his debut five months ago when beaten 18 lengths into 11th over 1500m at Saint-Cloud. Has to lift substantially to make an impression.
- SHAZAM – Resumes today after a disappointing debut on November 25 finishing ninth over 1800m at this track. With some improvement can figure in the placings.
- HIGHLAND SONG – Finished 3 lengths back in fourth on debut over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather last start. The race experience will be invaluable. Among the leading chances.
- DE FLORIO – Progressive colt resuming today after two runs in his maiden campaign, the latest effort a second over 2000m at Saint-Cloud on November 9. Has ability and is sure to have come on over the break.
- ALAMSAR – Kicked off this campaign last time out with an eighth over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather. Strips fitter this time.
- ZELZEFYR – Stepping up in trip after finishing fourth over 1900m at Deauville All Weather last time out. In the right race this time and is among the chances.
- SILAWI – Progressive colt resuming today after two runs in his maiden campaign, the latest effort a second over 1800m at Chantilly on October 12. Likely improver who can start this prep in a strong way.
- BUNTING – Colt by Bathyrhon from That’s Crazy on debut. Might just need this outing.
- TREIZIEME MOIS – Gelding by Seabhac out of Daraa. Purchased for EUR 25,000 (Arqana 2022 Summer Sale) and makes his debut. Happy to watch and learn this time.
Summary: SILAWI (10) left his debut effort well behind when runner-up in a 1800m maiden at Chantilly in October. Major appeal with the step up in trip looking sure to suit on pedigree. HIGHLAND SONG (6) finished fourth behind two subsequent winners over 1900m at Chantilly AW on debut. Claims if taking a step forward as anticipated. CHAMP LIBRE (1) needs including on the back of a promising debut third at Chantilly AW (1900m) twenty days ago while SHAZAM (5) could take a sizeable step forward from his initial run tackling 1800m here.
Selections
SILAWI (10) – HIGHLAND SONG (6) – CHAMP LIBRE (1) – SHAZAM (5)
Race 11 – PRIX DES ROCHERS DE FONTAINEBLEAU – 2000m HCP. Purse EUR €25,000.
- PETRA STAR – Last appeared three-and-a-half months ago when she finished 8 lengths from the winner in sixth over 2000m at Angers. Conditions favour. Expect a forward showing.
- MRS RHAPSODY – Resumes today after showing glimpses of ability in her first campaign. At the latest outing she finished 11th over 1600m at Chantilly All Weather on November 26. Shapes up nicely.
- JABARI – Racing well and although without a win has been in the money two times from three races. Finished third at her most recent appearance over 2100m at Pornichet. Ready to break through.
- ANNA CARIBEA – Disappointed a last start when tenth over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather after a win at Lyon-la-Soie prior to that. Prepared to overlook.
- BECQUANIENTE – Last appeared 12 weeks ago when she finished 6 lengths from the winner in fifth over 2000m at Pau All Weather. May need more time.
- SAISISSANTE – Stepping out at this track for the first time. Last appeared when she finished second over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather on March 4. Makes appeal.
- ZOYA – Finished just 2.5 lengths away in fifth last start over 2100m at Pornichet. Has ability and looks a top three chance.
- GUITRY – Promising filly who last start finished 10 lengths away in sixth over 1900m at Chantilly All Weather. This might be too rich.
- SEABELLE FAL – Hasn’t done much in recent times, the latest effort a ninth over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather, beaten 10 lengths. Prefer others.
- DOLCESHAL – Yet to fill a placing in two runs since resuming from a spell, the latest effort a fifth over 1600m at Chantilly All Weather three-and-a-half weeks ago. Likely player.
- GOLDEN DESERT – Solid effort last start, beaten 1.75 lengths into fourth over 1700m at Pornichet. Solid top-three chance.
- MY EMOTION – Fair effort last start, beaten 2.75 lengths into third over 1650m at Machecoul. Solid top-three chance.
- RUE GALLIERA – Yet to hit the frame in five runs to date but wasn’t far from the winner last start, finishing fifth at Pornichet over 2100m. Prepared to risk in this line-up.
Summary: Plenty of these are going handicapping for the first time and the market could provide some valuable clues. SAISISSANTE (6) backed up a Pornichet AW claiming success with a good second in a 1900m handicap at Chantilly AW last weekend. Obvious contender with Soumillon taking over. JABARI (3) arrives following back-to-back third-place finishes in 2100m maidens at Pornichet AW recently and should have more to give on handicap bow. Similar comments apply to ZOYA (7) who finished fifth behind Jabari at Porncihet last-time-out while top-weight PETRA STAR (1) returns from a break having finished sixth tackling a 2000m Angers conditions event.
Selections
SAISISSANTE (6) – JABARI (3) – ZOYA (7) – PETRA STAR (1)
Race 12 – PRIX DE L’HIPPODROME DE RAMBOUILLET – 1200m MDN. Purse EUR €27,000.
- FRENCH DEFENSE – Three-year-old colt who has been thereabouts at each appearance to date. Last time out finished second over 1300m at Deauville All Weather. Can get off the mark in this line-up.
- FEELING GREAT – Has struggled since resuming, most recently beaten 12 lengths unwanted in the market at Chantilly All Weather. On the quick back-up today looking for improvement.
- AKENATOR – Poor effort when resuming last start over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather, beaten 17 lengths into ninth. Not keen on his prospects.
- ROYALTIES – Racing well and although without a win has been in the money two times from four starts. Finished second at his most recent appearance over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Might find this too hard.
- BEAST MODE – Thereabouts during his maiden preparation but didn’t threaten to win. Resuming here off a break of four months. Others rate better.
- REMINISCE – Has not raced since finishing 11 lengths away in eighth over 1300m at Deauville All Weather on December 20. Look for a bold run.
- CANADIAN FIRE – Resuming from a spell under new trainer Marc Rosseel. Showed very little in her five starts last preparation. Prefer to see how she returns.
- ART OF MAGIC – Resumes today after filling a minor placing two times from three starts in her maiden campaign. At the latest outing she finished second over 1207m at Chelmsford AW (UK) on September 8. Shapes up nicely.
- REBEL REBEL – Was safely held on debut last start when seventh and beaten 2.25 lengths over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Has claims with the benefit of that run.
- AMBITIOUS PLAN – Went close last time when second over 1300m at Deauville All Weather. Big chance with a repeat of the latest effort.
- SIVKA BURKA – Finished fourth when fresh from a spell last start but wasn’t disgraced, beaten just 1.75 lengths over 1300m at Deauville All Weather. Will come on from that run and is well-placed.
Summary: Assuming FRENCH DEFENSE (1) handles conditions just fine he could take some stopping following three good runs in maiden company over 1300m at Deauville AW. Sets the standard. ART OF MAGIC (8) showed some decent form in a trio of novice events in the UK for former trainer Charlie Appleby and looks sure to feature on French debut. Last start Deauville AW (1300m) runner-up AMBITIOUS PLAN (10) can be firmly in the mix and SIVKA BURKA (11) is considered with Soumillon taking over.
Selections
FRENCH DEFENSE (1) – ART OF MAGIC (8) – AMBITIOUS PLAN (10) – SIVKA BURKA (11)
Race 13 – PRIX DE SAMOREAU – 1100m HCP CL3. Purse EUR €23,000.

- COOLMEEN ROYAL – Yet to break through this campaign but hasn’t been far away including a last start second over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Should be right in the finish.
- DANCING MASTER – Eight-year-old gelding who drops in journey from the latest effort when seventh over 1700m at Pornichet, finishing 4.5 lengths off the winner. Going well and should be prominent again.
- BERYL THE PERIL – Finding it hard to break through, finishing sixth last time out over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Finds a suitable race and can turn things around.
- BANKSY – Finds it hard to win. Has just one success to his name but has recorded three placings from 25 starts. Last start finished 11th over 1800m at Le Croisé-Laroche beaten 18 lengths. Can feature in the finish on best form.
- HELLO IS YOU – Last appeared three-and-a-half months ago when he finished 3 lengths from the winner in fifth over 1100m at Le Croise-Laroche. Can return in winning form.

- ASTURIAS ROAD – Has been out of the money in recent runs including last time out when 15th over 1600m at Chantilly All Weather three weeks ago, beaten 5.5 lengths. Likely to find this out of reach.
- TENORIO – Has not raced since finishing 6 lengths away in eighth over 1100m at Le Croise-Laroche on November 21. Consider.
- SANT ANGELO – Last appeared four months ago when he finished 13 lengths from the winner in 14th over 1650m at Amiens. Not keen.
- LATE COMER – Last start finished eighth over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Has recorded 8 victories from 81 starts. Has ability and is one of the chances.
- SIR MAURICE – Has been out of the money of late including last time out when 13th over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather two-and-a-half weeks ago, beaten 12 lengths. Hard to have.
- MEHANYDREAM – Hasn’t won in more than a year. Must improve off a last-start seventh over 1500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer to feature in the finish.
Summary: HELLO IS YOU (6) showed some solid form in Class Four handicaps over 1100m at Le Croise-Laroche last year and could be worth chancing after a break. Key chance in what looks a suitable affair. COOLMEEN ROYAL (2) bounced back to form with a good second off this mark at Chantilly AW (1300m) a week ago. Claims if replicating. Market support for AYOUNOR (1) would be of note who drops in class following a massive absence. DANCING MASTER (3) makes some each-way appeal.
