- MARIE MANCINI – Unraced filly by Footstepsinthesand out of Sees. Was a EUR € 20,000 (Arqana 2022 October Yearling Sale) purchase. Anticipating strong market support.
- BUCKLE UP BABY – Filly by Acclamation from Velveteen on debut. Purchased for EUR € 10,000 (Tattersalls.ie 2022 September Yearling Sale Part II). Watch market closely.
- JEEZ LOUISE – Unraced filly by Inns Of Court out of Bint Aldar. Was a GNS 4,000 (Tattersalls 2022 Somerville Yearling Sale) purchase. Likely to have plenty of support.
- GALGAN – Unraced filly by Donjuan Triumphant out of Gleditsia. Nice profile and capable of featuring.
- LUNA D’ORO – Daughter of Goken from African Hobby making her debut. Might just need this run.
- MADAME LA MARQUISE – Unraced filly by Dariyan out of Bahiamy. Prefer to see how she performs.
Summary: No form on offer for this two-year-old maiden and the market will prove a valuable guide. The booking of Maxime Guyon looks positive for MARIE MANCINI (5) and this daughter of Footstepsinthesand is selected to make a winning start. Gleneagles colt AQUILA VOLANTE (3) is interesting having been supplemented while the Florian Guyader-trained pair BUCKLE UP BABY (6) and JEEZ LOUISE (7) both need considering.
Selections
MARIE MANCINI (5) – AQUILA VOLANTE (3) – BUCKLE UP BABY (6) – JEEZ LOUISE (7)
Race 2 – PRIX PAUL LONDE – 2200m CL2. Purse EUR €22,000.
- I AM SOVEREIGN – Resumes today. Last appeared at Marseille-Borely over 1700m when fourth six-and-a-half months ago. Shows promise and is worth including.
- TORNEO – Lightly raced colt progressing well. Broke his maiden status last start by 1.3L over 2000m at Pau All Weather. Likely to feature.
- WILLY WINNER – Son of Robin Du Nord from Lilly Well making his debut. Might just need this run.
- COOL HEART – Well fancied last time when he broke through for a maiden win over 2350m at Machecoul. Place.
- AMELIELYMPIQUE – Returned from a spell last start and found a couple better over 2000m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Genuine performer who is expected to go well.
Summary: TORNEO (2) built on two promising efforts to land a 2000m maiden at Pau AW a month ago. Notable contender upped in class for a top trainer. Jerome Reynier looks to hold a strong hand here and I AM SOVEREIGN (1) must be respected. The form of his good fourth in a Class Two conditions race at Marseille-Borely has worked out well and he makes plenty of appeal after a break. Stablemate AMELIELYMPIQUE (5) finished a close third in a Class One conditions event at Cagnes-sur-Mer last month and needs including. Wide-margin Machecoul maiden scorer COOL HEART (4) is next best.
Selections
TORNEO (2) – I AM SOVEREIGN (1) – AMELIELYMPIQUE (5) – COOL HEART (4)
Race 3 – PRIX CHARLES GIRAUDON – 2200m CL2. Purse EUR €22,000.
- LAOS – Won Cagnes-sur-Mer three starts back and rates as a top chance.
- GREYM – Last appeared four months ago when she finished fifteenth over 2000m at Fontainebleau in Listed company. Expected to play a major role on reappearance.
- BYFORD – Average effort last start when eighth and beaten 61L over 2500m at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Worth forgiving and can turn things around.
- PLAIN BEAU – Was below his best last time when eighth over 2000m at Saint-Cloud. Can bounce back.
- COPPER – Last start was back on June 3 when third over 1800m at Compiegne. Has since changed trainers. Holds each way claims.
- SUPER QUARTZ – Placed two starts back at Chantilly All Weather before struggling to win in easier grade at Lyon-la-Soie over 2400m last time out. Place claims on best.
- WILLAMETTE VALLEY – Broke through for her first win at Galway over 2414m on July 29 then went for a spell. Well placed to pick up where she left off.
Summary: GREYM (2) finished a well-beaten fifteenth in the Listed Race Grand Prix de Fontainebleau – Fonds Europeen de l’Elevage at Fontainebleau in November but placed third in the Listed Race Prix Charles Laffitte at Compiegne prior. Major appeal on the figures dropped in standard after a spell. LAOS (1) arrives with a similar profile to the selection having been tailed off in the 2500m Listed Race Grand Prix du Departement 06 – Defi du Galop 2023 at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Capable of better and hard to ignore on ratings. Irish maiden winner WILLAMETTE VALLEY (7) looks interesting on French and stable debut while BYFORD (3) could feature.
Selections
GREYM (2) – LAOS (1) – WILLAMETTE VALLEY (7) – BYFORD (3)
Race 4 – PRIX DES BROTTEAUX – 2400m HCP CL4. Purse EUR €16,000.
- PINK BIRTHDAY – Has been out of the money in recent runs including last time out when twelfth over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie two-and-a-half weeks ago. Likely to find this out of reach.
- KARKHOV – Has a poor strike and failed to improve on it last start when he finished fourth over 2600m at Marseille-Borely. Needs to lift.
- TARCENAY – Handy stayer who has been plain of late including last start when well held over 3000m at Nancy. Well-placed so expect a lot more.
- JUST YOU AND ME – 10-year-old gelding who drops in trip from the latest effort when third over 2600m at Marseille-Borely. Sure to be thereabouts.
- MOKO – Finished fourth on her most recent outing over 2600m at Marseille-Borely. Has won previously over the 2400m journey. Capable of figuring in the finish.
- PUMPY GIRL – Just one career win from 29 starts. Last start finished 0.7L away in third over 2400m at Cagnes-sur-Mer All Weather. Capable on her day and looks well placed.
- SAMAYA – Has been out of the money recently including last time out when eighth over 2600m at Marseille-Borely two weeks ago. Will need to do a bit more.
- LADY MAG – Last appeared a year ago when she finished 5L from the winner in ninth over 2700m at Chantilly All Weather. Looking to others for the winner.
- CROCUS BORGET – Five-year-old gelding who drops in trip from the latest effort when third over 2600m at Marseille Vivaux. Capable.
- COMMANDEUR – Has been out of the money of late including last time out when fourth over 2400m at Lyon-la-Soie two-and-a-half weeks ago. Worth following up.
- ZINZICHERA – Hasn’t done much in recent times. Looks tested in this field.
- CRAZYVORES – Comfortably held last start when friendless in betting over 1800m at Lyon-la-Soie. Looks tested again.
- SUPERIOR BADOLAT – Returned to the winners’ circle after a long while in the wilderness last time out over 2600m at Marseille-Borely. Plenty to like about his prospects.
Summary: A 2.5kg rise in the weights may not be enough to stop SUPERIOR BADOLAT (13) following up a recent 0.5L Class Four handicap win at Marseille-Borely. Strong chance. PUMPY GIRL (6) continues to run well in AW handicaps of late including when third over 2400m at Cagnes-sur-Mer recently. Expected to measure up back on turf. MOKO (5) finished fourth behind Superior Badolat at Marseille-Borely latest. Key claims with a swing in the weights. CROCUS BORGET (9) is respected under Guyon.
Selections
SUPERIOR BADOLAT (13) – PUMPY GIRL (6) – MOKO (5) – CROCUS BORGET (9)
