Singapore Stewards’ Press Release
SINGAPORE MARCH MEETING 2023
SATURDAY, 25 MARCH 2023
RACE 1 [TF0317]
On Tuesday, 28 March 2023, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into Jockey T Krisna’s (pictured) riding of CAPTAIN SINGAPORE in the above race. Evidence was taken from Jockey Krisna and Trainer J Lim, the Trainer of CAPTAIN SINGAPORE. After considering all the evidence, Jockey Krisna was found guilty of a charge for failing to ride to the satisfaction of Stewards under MRA Rule 44(10) in that near the 250m, when clear running was available directly ahead of him, he did direct CAPTAIN SINAPORE outwards, resulting in that gelding having to be steadied away from the heels of GRIFFIN (I Saifudin).
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the nature of the charge.
Jockey Krisna was suspended from riding in races with immediate effect from Tuesday, 28 March 2023 to Saturday, 27 May 2023 both dates inclusive (a period of two months) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
RACE 2 [TF0318]
On Tuesday, 28 March 2023, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into Jockey R Woodworth’s riding of SINGLE WARRIOR in the above race. Evidence was taken from Jockey Woodworth and Trainer J Tan, the Trainer of SINGLE WARRIOR. After reviewing the films, the Stewards found that SINGLE WARRIOR lost its position in the early and middle stages when the tempo of the event slowed and the gelding commenced to race very keenly. The Stewards also found that passing the 800m, SINGLE WARRIOR lost further ground whilst racing keenly when SACRED HEAVEN (S Shafrizal) shifted outwards slightly and FEBRUARY (WH Kok) rolled inwards. In all the circumstances, the Stewards accepted their explanations.
