Race Preview
R1 – PRIX CANOT – 2100m (a1 5/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 27.000
- BAKHCHISARAY – Has maintained consistency at a good level and should have a role to play here having finished 5th in a Group III recently.
- PRETTY TIGER – Absent since May but is a proven Group performer and the class package of the race. Can make a winning return.
- FELLOW – Lightly raced five-year-old and a consistent performer in his native Germany. Has it all to do in this company.
- SACCARY – German raider who has not been seen since June. One to note in his first start on French soil.
- CENTRICAL – A three-time winner from five starts but at a lower level. Will need to take a big step forward to play a role.
- SABIO CEN – Sparingly raced but remains unbeaten and largely unexposed, so open to improvement. Respected.
Summary : This competitive conditional race marks the eagerly anticipated return to action of PRETTY TIGER (2) who was last seen finishing 3rd in the Group I Prix d’Ispahan all the way back in May, after finishing a close-up 2nd over this trip at Group I level in the Prix Ganay. On that form, he will be hard to beat and is a confident selection to make a winning comeback. Unbeaten SABIO CEN (6) has been sparingly raced but we haven’t seen the best of him yet, so must be respected on his reappearance. Consistent BAKHCHISARAY (1) cannot be ignored either with race fitness on his side.

R2 – PRIX NOBILIARY – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27.000
- SAADIYAT – Bought for 600,000 euros and has finished in the money twice from as many starts. Has the form and experience to be competitive.
- SERENITI – Was a creditable 4th of 13 on debut over 1800m at Fontainebleau in November. Not without a chance on her return.
- OMICRONE – Finished 3rd on the fibresand on debut last year and resumed on that surface with a 5th at her next start. Improvement needed.
- TASMANIA – Was 4th on debut over 1800m at ParisLongchamp in October. Open to improvement on her return, so is respected.
- SEA BREAKER – Ran on strongly to finish 3rd over this track and trip on debut. Likely to play a leading role with expected improvement.
- LARISSA’S WORLD – Finished an encouraging 2nd on debut on the fibresand and should have a say if confirming that promise on the turf.
- HASAPIKO – Confirmed the promise of his debut 3rd by finishing 2nd next time out, both runs on the PSF. Has claims in his first start on the turf.
- OUR TOWN – Was two and a half lengths behind Larissa’s World when finishing 3rd debut. Ought to play a role with improvement likely.
Summary : A smart bunch of talented three-year-olds assembled for this 2000m maiden and most – if not all – of these fillies won’t be long in opening their accounts. It could, however, pay to follow the progress of SEA BREAKER (5) who caught the eye when finishing 3rd on debut over this course and distance. LARISSA’S WORLD (6) was runner-up on the fibresand at Deauville on her introduction and should make her presence felt if confirming that promise on the turf. OUR TOWN (8) finished 3rd behind that rival on debut so could also have a say, but has two and a half lengths to make up. SAADIYAT (1) has both the form and experience to get into the picture.

R3 – PRIX EMPERY – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27.000
- MARZOUK – Finished a pleasing 4th on debut over 1800m at Fontainebleau in November and ought to improve after a break. Keep safe.
- CIRCEO – Showed promise in both outings last year and makes his return for a stable that sent out the winner of our selection’s last start. Dangerous.
- LE CACOIN – Was an encouraging 4th on debut over this course and distance last month, and would have come on since. Not without a chance.
- ZULU WARRIOR – Narrowly beaten on his reappearance and should be in the firing line again if making further improvement. One to beat.
- WOODSTOCK CITY – Has finished 3rd in both runs this year. Has the form and experience to play a role again.
- PATTERSON – Has done nothing noteworthy in either outing to warrant consideration so can be ruled out.
- AZKA – Returns after a small break during which he was gelded, having finished 3rd in consecutive outings. Place chance.
- L’ARGENT – Built on the promise of a pleasing debut 4th when finishing 2nd at his next start on the PSF in November. One to note on his return.
Summary : ZULU WARRIOR (4) has improved with every start and should, with further progress likely after his comeback 2nd at Compiegne last month, play another leading role. He will, however, again face a test from an inmate of the Mikel Delzangles stable. That trainer, who saddled the selection’s last-start conqueror, runs Group I Prix du Jockey-Club entry CIRCEO (2) who ran well in his 2 starts last year and ought to pose a threat if able to confirm that promise on his reappearance. Cases can also be made for consistent WOODSTOCK CITY (5) and AZKA (7) after a pleasing 3rd in his comeback.

R4 – PRIX LE POMPON – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Condition Race – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 28.000
- VALENTINO FACE – Well-beaten 9th of his last start but is capable of better back on the turf. One to note.
- CITY OF HOPE – Much-improved winner of his last start on the PSF at Pau. More required in this company on his turf debut.
- HALF HALF – Improving sort and a winner on his reappearance last time out. Can get into the pictire.
- GRAND TRAVERSE – Won by quite a margin on debut at Fontainebleau. Has obvious quality so could go in again.
- LE BOSS – Runner-up on debut behind an Andre Fabre-trained Godolphin runner. Has since switched stables.
- TAYBET – Winner of his last start in his third run of the year. Has fitness on his side but must raise his game to have a say.
- GARPUR – Was 4th in a German Group III last year but has not been seen since winning at Le Mans in November.
- MICHELANGELO – Beat a useful bunch on debut last term and finished 3rd next time out. Supplemented here for his comeback, so warrants respect.
- COCO DU HAUT – Was 4th at this track over 1400m when last seen in November but is probably more effective at a lower level. Outsider.
- FILLE DU ROI – Consistent for the most part. Belatedly opened her account 2 starts back but only a modest 7th of her last start, needs to reaffirm.
- NAJWAA – Finished 4th on her comeback on the PSF in Cannes. Should improve to play a role here.
- ROSE FRAGRANCE – Winner on debut at Dieppe in July and would’ve needed her last start at Chantilly when 5th on the fibresand. Dark horse.
Summary : A convincing winner of his debut at Fontainebleau, GRAND TRAVERSE (4) is fancied to remain undefeated and follow up at the expense of NAJWAA (11), who receives a 1,5kg sex allowance and has both the form and experience to pose a threat. THE BOSS (5) was runner-up on his introduction so capable of playing a role too, while HALF HALF (3) could build on his comeback win to also make his presence felt. Good race!
