19 coded urine and 36 coded blood post race samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.
All samples were analysed and none failed except for Sample Coded No 2023326 which revealed the presence of Morphine which was reported to have been taken from the horse, PACIFIC STAR, trained by Trainer M Clements, which ran second in Race 3 on the above date.
On Tuesday, 04 April 2023, Trainer M Clements’s Assistant Trainer, Mr M White, was advised of the Analyst’s Report and his attention was drawn to the contents of MRA Rule 137 (1) relating to the Referee Samples.
In terms of the Rules, PACIFIC STAR cannot race again until cleared by the Stewards.
On Tuesday, 04 April 2023, Trainer M Clements’s Assistant Trainer, Mr M White, subsequently exercised his right to have PACIFIC STAR ‘s Referee Sample sent overseas for independent analysis.
An Inquiry into the above will be held at a date to be fixed.
