Popular Brazilian jockey Bernardo Pinheiro returns to the saddle at Kranji this Sunday, 16 April, kicking off a nine-month riding stint.
Pinheiro made a name for himself on the Kranji circuit last year with a double aboard Pennywise and Sky Eye at his one-day visit on Kranji Mile Day on 21 May. Subsequently, Pinheiro was granted a five-month riding licence in Singapore from 1 June to 31 October.
However, he was eventually slapped with a two-month suspension after he was found guilty of not riding Mr Malek to the Stewards’ satisfaction in a Class 1 on 24 September, cutting short the entirety of his contract.
Pinheiro ended his stint with a tally of 14 winners from 109 rides. He then headed to Dubai – where he has been a regular among the riding ranks in recent years – for their latest racing season, where he chalked up a personal best with 28 winners from 256 rides, despite missing 25 per cent of the season due to his suspension.
Pinheiro kicks off his latest Kranji stint with six rides on Sunday and will no doubt be keen to pick up where he left off.
