Local trainer Kevin Coetzee will saddle up almost a third of the 65 acceptors for the seven race card at Perak Turf Club on Saturday with several winning chances.
Coming off a double at last Saturday’s meeting, Coetzee will supply half the field in the 1200m Open Novice (Race 7) including recent winners SHARP DRESSSED MAN (2) and HELLO MONDAY (7). Both gallopers did not break through until their 20th and 22nd starts respectively and while HELLO MONDAY (7) resumes from a two month break, SHARP DRESSED MAN (2) backs up from his 4th placing in a 1200m contest last Saturday when resuming. Another stablemate VICTOREM (4) is still a maiden but has shown potential with three placings from five starts and can improve from his second up run last month. Perhaps the best performed galloper in the eight horse lineup is GALAXY LAW (1), which arrived from New Zealand on a tough mark but has been very competitive locally posting four placings in Class 4 company.
Race 7 Selections: 4 – 1 – 2 – 7
Despite not racing on the Ipoh circuit for over two years when successful on the 1100m straight course, TAUBOSS (6) has recaptured his best form with two wins in KL this season and may prove to beat in the 1300m Callisto Handicap. Both victories were over 1275m on the KL inner track and he’ll be freshened up since his eye catching 2nd over 1300m on March 18. On that occasion the ten year old sprinted from last at the half mile to finish a close 2nd. RS DIAGO (2) trialled impressively in KL prior to his unplaced effort over 1250m a fortnight ago where he copped a check at the 200m mark and may have been a shade unlucky. Despite his only career win occurring just over two years ago, OCEAN LAW (1) has been gradually improving and cannot be underestimated despite the top weight. FAST AND SUPER (8) is yet to win at Class 4 level and will be backing up from his fast finishing 3rd over 1400m here last week.
Race 4 Selections: 6 – 2 – 1 – 8
