HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 1, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R105,000, 12:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Many first timers but of those that have run AFRICAN BEAT (7) is the stand-out. She has improved with each outing and was a close-up second to winners last time out. Experience should hold her in good stead. Stable companion LADY LACEWING (5) was only a length behind African Folklore when last they met and she has improved of late. She can upset. Of the first timers, MAURITANIA (1) has a classy pedigree and GALAXY ROSE (3) comes from a very much in form yard.

Selections:

#7 AFRICAN BEAT, #5 LADY LACEWING, #1 MAURITANIA, #3 GALAXY ROSE

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 2, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R105,000, 12:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Many first timers so watch the betting. BITCOIN BABY (6) was well fancied on debut but bumped a couple of first timers that where highly thought of. She made a cracking debut and rates the one to beat. Jockey bookings suggest that stable companion BABY LOVE (9) is the stable elect and the stable comment doesn’t give much away.

Selections:

#6 BITCOIN BABY, #11 BOMBER GIRL, #9 BABY LOVE, #7 ACCUMULATE

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 3, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R100,000, 13:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: The Garth Puller-trained KUMEMORI (6) made a smart debut over course and distance in a good time. If he comes on from that run he could be hard to beat. CABERNEIGHT (7) was a close-up second on the poly on debut. That was a good effort and he should run a big race for Paul Lafferty. RAFA’S BOY (8) comes off a lengthy break but had the now seemingly retired Anton Marcus up on debut. He is one to watch in the market. REACH FOR THE STARS (9) tried a mile last run but his better form has been over this trip.

Selections:

#6 KUMEMORI, #7 CABERNEIGH, #9 REACH FORTHE STARS, #8 RAFA’S BOY

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 4, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R100,000, 13:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Tricky. Alec Laird’s highveld visitor CALL TO GLORY (1) is lightly raced and although a well-beaten second last time out she looks good enough to match this field. TELIO (6) was much improved in blinkers last run and has shown some ability. FOREIGN LADY (5) has been up and down in distance of late but was much improved last run over this trip although it was on the poly. TEMPELHOFF (3) needed his last run after a long lay-off but did show some ability before the break.

Selections:

#1 CALL TO GLORY, #6 TELIO, #5 FOREIGN LADY, #3 TEMPELHOFF

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 5, Gallops, 2400m, Turf, R135,000, 14:05GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: EL REY VIENE (5) has a touch of class. He steps up to this trip fir the first time but Duncan Howells knows how to get them fit. REX UNION (7) comes off some useful Cape staying form. He was close-up last run and should run a big race for Dean Kannemeyer. TWICE GOLDEN (6) is something of a course and distance specialist and should be in the firing line.  Stable companion QUEUE WING (3) surprised over a sprint last time out but his better form has been over ground. He is one to watch in the betting.

Selections:

#5 EL REY VIENE, #7 REX UNION, #3 QUEUE WING, #6 TWICE GOLDEN

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 6, Gallops, 1750m, Turf, R150,000, 14:40GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Not easy. Sean Tarry is starting to hunt the Champions Season features and sends out SISTER LIGHT (6) who has been close-up in good Highveld company of late. She is seldom far back and stays the trip well. HOLLYWOOD BOUND (8) was close up in a Highveld feature last run and has her third run after a short break for Gareth van Zyl. AQUAE SULIS (10) is a strapping mare with a handy galloping weight. She was a touch unlucky last run and has done well over course and distance. MACARA (9) is seldom far back and won well on this course last time out. She does meet stronger here but is more than capable.

Selections:

#6 SISTER LIGHT, #8 HOLLYWOODBOUND, #10 AQUAE SULIS, #9 MACARA

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 7, Gallops, 1750m, Turf, R150,000, 15:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Visiting trainer Vaughan Marshall opened his KZN winter season account with San Pedro last Monday and saddles conformed stayer SENSO UNICO (6) in a tricky affair. The gelding does appear to be better over more ground but has been far behind useful stayers in the Cape and with a trip from the Cape under his girth, he could race fresh over this shorter trip. Sean Tarry saddles INDLAMU (5) who has been running well over shorter on the Highveld. He has a handy galloping weight and he should be close-up again. Glen Kotzen has a strong hand in the race but LORD WILLIAM (2) could prove the pick. He found some market support in the Kings Cup and was beaten just over a length by the vastly improved Cape Eagle. When Corne Spies raids it is best to take note. PROPHET (1) has patchy form and has been sprinting of late. He does have a touch of class and is one to watch in the betting.

Selections:

#6 SENSO UNICO, #5 INDLAMU, #2 LORD WILLIAM, #1 PROPHET

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 8, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R100,000, 15:50GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary:  Open handicap. TRADE WAR (3) was a narrow winner last run but has come good of late and although lumbered with top weight he should make another bold bid. BLESS ME FRED (6) is one of three from the Michael Roberts yard. He was touched off over course and distance last start buy stable companion SEA VISTA (8) and there should not be much between the two again. Highveld visitor CLEAN LIVING (1) has patchy form and takes on males but she is best over this trip and cannot be written off lightly.

Selections:

#3 TRADE WAR, #6 BLESS ME FRED, #8 SEA VISTA, #1 CLEAN LIVING

HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 16.04.2023, Race 9, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R110,000, 16:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Stuart Ferrie will be hunting a win with REEFWAY (4) who ran out a comfortable winner last time out. She had always shown promise but first time blinkers seemed to bring out the best in her and she can go in again although she did get a six-point hit in the handicap. Second that afternoon was LA PURA VIDA (13) who is now slightly better off at the weights but has shown some ability and is lightly raced. AMARANDI (11) hardly ever runs a bad race for Wayne Badenhorst and she was touched off in a small feature last time out. LUCKY MISS (12) had her consistency rewarded last run after a string of seconds. This may be a touch short but she is in such good form that she cannot be written off lightly.

Selections:

#4 REEFWAY, #11 AMARANDI, #13 LA PURA VIDA, #12 LUCKY MISS

Best Win: #5 EL REY VIENE

Best Value Bet: #6 SENSO UNICO

Best Longshot: #8 RAFA’S BOY
