The Inquiry into the riding of ACE SOVEREIGN (I Saifudin) in Race 4 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 16 April 2023 was concluded on Wednesday, 19 April 2023.
After taking evidence from Jockey I Saifudin (pictured), the rider of ACE SOVEREIGN, and Trainer T Fitzsimmons, the Trainer of ACE SOVEREIGN, Jockey Saifudin was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that he failed to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The specifics of the charge being:
- That he did fail to ride his mount with sufficient vigour and determination in the straight.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the charge, his disciplinary record, personal circumstances, precedent penalties and submissions from Jockey Saifudin that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meeting on Sunday, 23 April 2023.
In all the circumstances, Jockey Saifudin’s Licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of three months from Monday, 24 April 2023 until Sunday, 23 July 2023, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
