Race Preview

R1 – PRIX CLAUDE ROUGET – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. KENOSHA – Finished a modest 9th on debut last year but is likely to have improved over the
winter so is worth keeping an eye on.
2. CHAYTON GIFT – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so is of little interest here.
Can be ruled out.
3. EDEN – Made no impression in her only start and will need to have gained plenty from that
experience to get a look in here.
4. PENNYWELL – Made no impression on debut so is hard to make a case for here and is best
watched until showing improvement.
5. CATCH A STAR – Has shown little by way of form and ability to warrant inclusion and can be
ruled out. Others preferred.
6. FLORES – Took a big step forward from her modest debut when an improved 2nd last time out.
Will have a say if confirming that improvement here.
7. HELLES – Was a disappointing 9th on the grass last time having finished 3rd in consecutive PSF
outings. Could do better.
8. PHILAMINTE – Was 4th on the PSF when starting favourite on debut last year. Open to any
amount of improvement on her reappearance.
9. MARFISA – Caught the eye when a staying-on 4th behind a subsequent winner on her
comeback. Should have more to offer.
10. OUR TOWN – Has run to a good level of form in 2 promising and consistent outings. Ought to
make further improvement so should have a role to play.

Summary : FLORES (6) and MARFISA (9) finished 2nd and 4th respectively behind a promising
filly who won again at her next start. The latter was making her comeback after a layoff that day
and, with improved fitness on her side, could turn the tables on the former who will have a role to
play if confirming the improvement she showed after a modest debut. They will, however, be tested
by unexposed OUR TOWN (10) who has shown enough in 2 promising starts to fight for victory
here. PHILAMINTE (8) is open to any amount of improvement too on her reappearance, so should
not be discounted either.

SELECTIONS
MARFISA (9) – FLORES (6) – OUR TOWN (10) – PHILAMINTE (8)

R2 – PRIX DE JOINVILLE – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Newcomers – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. COLOMBIER – Trained at the Fabre stable and has an excellent pedigree by Kingman out of a
Galileo mare. Watch the betting trends.
2. SAGHANY – Making his debut and comes from the Aga Khan stable. He is out of a Rock Of
Gibraltar mare and a huge effort can be expected.
3. ZARIR – Comes from a strong yard and gets the services of rider Tony Piccone. He is by Frankel
and selected to make a winning debut.
4. BREVANDS – He is by Shalaa out of a Le Harve mare whom will likely be one of the longer shots
in the race.
5. MORPHEWAN – By Morpheus out of an American Post mare that might just need this run to
learn about racing.
6. WIDA – Ronan Thomas gets the ride and the betting trends might be the best guide with this one.
7. GOT LAND – Jockey Theo Bachelot has been booked for the ride on a horse that could go close
on debut.
8. AIR KISS – He is by Al Wukair and will be ridden by Jockey Barzalona first time at the races.
Watch the betting trends.
9. LHOMMAIZE – Trained by the Cerulis yard and gets the riding services of Lemaitre. He could
make his presence felt.
10. KAZAMIR – Alexis Pouchin rides and this horse is out of a High Chaparral mare. A likely
outsider but could run well on debut.

Summary : ZARIR (3) is one of the two entrants from the Aga Khan stable and is selected to make
a winning debut. He gets the riding services of rated Tony Piccone. This debutante is powerfully
bred by Frankel out of a Sea The Stars mare and can be expected to be the favourite in the betting
market. His stable companion, SAGHANY (2) might give plenty of cheek on debut and must be
respected. He is out of a Rock Of Gibraltar mare. COLOMBIER (1) is trained at the Fabre yard and
could make his presence felt in his first race course appearance and is a must for most bets. He
has a pedigree to boast by Kingman out of a Galileo mare. GOT LAND (7) is the ride of Theo
Bachelot and another making the debut.

SELECTIONS
ZARIR (3) – SAGHANY (2) – COLOMBIER (1) – GOT LAND (7)

R3 – PRIX RIVERMAN – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 21.000

1. BROADFIELD – Won a schooling race before finishing 2nd on debut behind an exciting prospect.
Should open his account.
2. SAINT ETIENNE – Finished a pleasing 5th on debut and is likely to have come on since. Could
get a look in here.
3. MY HARLEY – Made no impression when a well-beaten 10th of 13 on debut, in the same race
as our selection. Hard to make a case for.
4. PRINCE OF DAWN – Was an encouraging 4th on debut and is open to any amount of
improvement. Can get into the picture.
5. KHODINOV – Managed only a modest 7th on debut so will need to improve a great deal to get
involved. Has the scope to do so.
6. ROI MERCURE – Twice 2nd and a 4th from 3 runs this year. Has the form and experience to
have a say in the outcome.
7. NOVE SU NOVE – Has improved with each start and finished 2nd on his comeback, so ought to
get involved with further progress.
8. BELAFONTE – Has shown promise in 2 starts on the PSF and should have a role to play here if
proving as effective on the turf.
9. DSCHINGIS STORM – François Monfort-trained Dschingis Secret colt on debut. Morgan
Delalande rides.
10. QUETZAL – Christophe Lotoux-trained Magician gelding on debut. Maryline Eon takes 1,5kg
off.

Summary : After a promising start to his career, BROADFIELD (1) is the one to be with here and
ought to open his account. BELAFONTE (8) has finished 3rd in both starts on the fibresand and
may have more to offer on the turf, so could also have a role to play. Both ROI MERCURE (6) and
NOVE SU NOVE (7) have the form and experience to make their presence felt too. PRINCE OF
DAWN (4) and SAINT ETIENNE (2) are likely improvers after encouraging debut runs, so are not
without a prayer either.

SELECTIONS
BROADFIELD (1) – BELAFONTE (8) – ROI MERCURE (6) – NOVE SU NOVE (7)

R4 – PRIX GEORGES MOORE (CHMPT PARIS TURF DES APPRENTIS & JEUNES JOCKEYS) – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 25.000

1. ROSEL – Has placed 8 times from 13 runs. Her recent two efforts at Lyon and the other at
Pornichet were solid.
2. VARENNA – Was a winner at her most recent start at Evreux on the 12th April 2023 over 1800m
and could certainly follow up.
3. BAILA CONMIGO – Finished 5th over 1400m at Nancy last time. Is making his track and distance
debut today which might extract some improvement.
4. ZABIR – Is lightly raced, has weight off the back and should go close based on attractive debut
run on the 6th Feb over 1600m here at this course.
5. RUE DE LA MER – Creditable debut over a mile at Chantilly on the 6th Feb finishing 5th and has
tons of scope to improve and get closer.
6. NUJIKS – Best effort thus was his most recent one and can build on that. Others preferred though.
7. QWENKALY – Lightly raced and made a good debut finishing third but has posted two poor
efforts since. Expect a lot better.
8. SWEET DEVILDARLING – Is an outsider but has some scope to possibly improve on his five
average runs thus far.
9. WHATEVER IT COSTS – Has shown average form thus far and needs more to feature.
10. HOLLY COLOUR – Last run at this venue on the 30th March over 1800m in a Handicap was
very good and he can get into the winners circle.
11. SPIRIT CUTTER – Well tried but can build on her recent fifth place at Argentan over 2500m on
the 25th of April.
12. MON SIOUX – Well tried having had 11 attempts at getting it all right and has been unplaced in
his last five. Hard to follow.

Summary : HOLLY COLOUR (10) gets some valuable weight off his back from the claiming
apprentice and brings a rating of 28 into the race. His chances of winning this look bright. He has
run 11 times for 4 places and his most recent effort was encouraging. ZABIR (4) is lightly raced
and his best effort was on debut when finishing 5th over 1600m at this course in February. His two
below par efforts since are a small concern but based on his debut, he can be expected to serve
up a lot more now. ROSEL (1) is rated at 30,5 and she has placed 8 times from 13 attempts. She
has strong each way claims and VARENNA (2) has only had a handful of starts to date and was a
winner at her last start. She could follow up.

SELECTIONS
HOLLY COLOUR (10) – ZABIR (4) – ROSEL (1) – VARENNA (2)

R5 – PRIX DE DEAUVILLE – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 20.000

1. KER WELEN – Inconsistent but remains capable at this level. Has a good record at this course
and ought to be competitive.
2. YELLOWBLUE – Has been holding his form but, while not incapable on turf, is probably more
effective on the PSF. Outsider.
3. LIB DUBAWI – Won consecutive starts before struggling under a penalty last time. Has only a
place chance here.
4. LETTY’S MARVEL – Finished a much-better 2nd on his reappearance on the PSF at Chantilly
last month and should have a say if confirming that improvement.
5. JUST A PERFECT DAY – Most effective in claiming races, where he has posted all 3 of his wins.
Has only a minor role to play.
6. VESINABA – Seldom far off the mark but has more of a place chance here than a winning one.
Outsider.
7. SIM CARD – Consistent last-start winner who is as effective on the turf as he is on fibresand. Up
3kg but likely to go well again.
8. ALONE – Absent since October and was out of sorts prior to the layoff. Has a good record at this
track too, so could reaffirm on his comeback.
9. VINO BELLO – Twice a winner on the turf and has dropped in the weights to a dangerous mark.
Could surprise.
10. MARANADO – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the judge.
Others preferred.
11. ITHAQUE – Has been struggling for some time now and is unlikely to trouble the judge. Can be
ruled out.
12. BAFANA LINNGARI – Well-performed veteran who has won 10 times. Has been nearing a
return to form and has dropped another 1kg – outside chance.
13. BABY GEORGE – Opened his account on the PSF in his 12th outing two starts back but
struggled under a penalty last time. Others preferred.
14. ROMANELLO – Capable but inconsistent sort. Finished 4th last time after winning his previous
start and could get a look in again.
15. AKHATIYI – One of several in the lineup who has been struggling to rediscover any form for
some time now. Can be ruled out.
16. CHUBASCO – Showed signs of a return to form last time when 5th behind the selection and is
better off at the weights on this occasion. Should have a role to play.

Summary : SIM CARD (7) has shown great versatility and consistency since relocating from the
UK in 2021. He was not winning out of turn when landing a 1900m handicap on the PSF earlier this
month and ought to for victory again despite a 3kg penalty. CHUBASCO (16) is closely matched
on form and capable of posing a threat if building on the improvement of his last start. KER WELEN
(1) has finished 2nd and 3rd in his 2 races at this track, so could get into the picture on his return
here. ALONE (8), absent since October but a winner at this course last year, and LETTY’S
MARVEL (4), who finished 2nd on his reappearance at Chantilly last month, complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
SIM CARD (7) – CHUBASCO (16) – KER WELEN (1) – ALONE (8)

R6 – PRIX DE MANSE – 2000m (a1 1/4m) – TURF – Condition Race – Newcomers – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. MARINDJA – Second runner from the Aga Khan stable and ridden by an apprentice which
suggests she could need the run but could still place.
2. VISILANDA – Aga Khan-owned filly and will be ridden by Gerald Mosse for her debut. No surprise
to see her win first try and go on to better things.
3. LADY’S SLIPPER – A filly by the almighty Frankel making her debut and could certainly make
her presence felt.
4. ZEEYARA – Could run well on debut but is likely to be one of the longer shots in the field.
5. CAELESTIS – Gets top rider Christophe Soumillion in the saddle and should be able to go close
on debut. She is a daughter of Dubawi.
6. JALAPAO – Maxime Guyon partners this filly by The Grey Gatsby on debut which is a huge
attraction.
7. TISSEUSE DE REVES – Oasis Dream debutante from the Fabre yard. There could be some
betting activity for her in the market and will be worth respecting.
8. YOROKOBI – Beautifully bred filly by Camelot that could go well on debut. Watch the betting.
9. THE PLANETS – Is by Sea The Stars out of a Storm Cat mare so there is plenty reason to get
excited about her and her chances.
10. BALAKOVNA – Trained at the Gadbin yard and might need this run and. Likely to be one of
the outsiders.
11. KALBARRI – Newcomers from this yard tend to need the run so is best to watch for now.

Summary : VISILANDA (2) is a beautifully bred filly from the Aga Khan yard whom will be ridden
by Gerald Mosse. She is by Intello out of an Ariabaa mare and is obviously the first choice of the
Aga Khan two here but nevertheless, always keep watch on the market trends. CAELESTIS (5)
gets top quality rider Christophe Soumillon behind the mane on debut and this is worth taking
serious note of. She could go very close to getting it all right first time at the races. THE PLANETS
(9) is from the Fabre yard and will be ridden by Jockey Pasquier. Her pedigree is very attractive
being by Sea The Stars out of a Storm Cat mare. She could be way above average and MARINDJA
(1) is the second Aga Khan runner but the booking of the apprentice suggests that Visilanda is the
preferred of the duo.

SELECTIONS
VISILANDA (2) – CAELESTIS (5) – THE PLANETS (9) – MARINDJA (1)

R7 – PRIX DE CLAIREFONTAINE – 1950m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16.000

1. MARASTAR – Has been struggling to rediscover her form for some time now so unlikely to
trouble the judge.
2. FIRST DREM – Fluffhed her lines last time after a string of consistent efforts. Capable of bouncing
back so is not to be written off.
3. WHAT A FAIR FOOT – Has a good record at this track and ought to be competitive if first-time
blinkers have the desired effect. Include.
4. PUTUMAYO – Winner 4 starts back but has struggled to confirm in 3 subsequent outings. For
another day.
5. SENEPARK – Winner 4 starts ago but has struggled in his 3 starts since. Capable of better but
best watched for now.
6. VERTISMANN – Consistent performer at this level and hails from a stable in good form. Likely
to play a leading role here.
7. HYGROVE BEC – Scratched.
8. SEA SANDS – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now. Chances limited even at this
level.
9. PHILOSOPHY – Was a much-improved 4th and ahead of the selection on his comeback recently.
Can have a say in the finish.
10. SIDE TO SIDE – Nothing noteworthy to her name for a considerable period so can be ruled out
here.
11. RED DUMA – Undeniably capable but too inconsistent to warrant any betting confidence.
Others preferred.
12. LLOYD – Dangerous frontrunner and is well drawn here so likely to adopt similar tactics. Will
give a good sight.
13. GORMLAITH – Has been in uninspiring form in 3 starts this year but will be fitted with blinkers
here. Capable of better.
14. SASHEMY – Unreliable sort but is quite capable of staking a claim in a race like this. Place
chance.
15. MIENGO – Caused somewhat of a stir on the PSF at Deauville last time. Drawn wide but could
confirm that improvement.

Summary : A wide-open handicap that could go the way of VERTISMANN (6) who has maintained
consistency at this level since his only career win back in December. WHAT A FAIR FOOT (3) may
have more to offer in first-time blinkers, so could fight for victory. PHILOSOPHY (9) finished ahead
of the selection when 4th on his reappearance earlier this month and ought to be competitive on
that form. FIRST DREM (2) and (12) complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
VERTISMANN (6) – WHAT A FAIR FOOT (3) – PHILOSOPHY (9) – FIRST DREM (2)

R8 – PRIX DE L’ALLEE DE LA PLAINE – 1800m (a1 1/8m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16.000

1. YOUM IN LOVE – Recent races have been encouraging and yard has been in real good form.
Can follow up.
2. SOHO VICKY – Unplaced in her last three starts but was a winner at Chantilly before that. Down
in the weight and has claims.

but he is capable and a must for bets.
4. FAZZANO – Has been struggling for some time now and others are preferred.
5. TRIMLIGHT – Can build on recent 7th over 1900m at this venue on the 11th April and Soumillon
retains the ride which is a huge positive.
6. ILLUSTRE BERE – Guyon takes the ride and despite this horse taking time to win again. Could
be the value for the places.
7. FRENCHY – Recent fourth at Lyon was much better than recent efforts but more needed for the
win.
8. MISTER CHARLIE – Caught the eye in his last run when finishing 3rd at this track over 2100m
in handicap class and has strong each way claims.
9. TITE NANA – Hard to make a case for on recent form and can be overlooked.
10. CAPCHOP – Won three starts ago right here at Chantilly but has not shone since then. Best to
watch.
11. ANATH – Last run was at Lyon finishing third over 2000m in a handicap and is expected to give
it a good go once again.
12. FOREVER COCO – Last run was at this track over 1500m finishing 4th and has an obvious
clams on the back of this effort.
13. HOT SUMMER – Multiple winner at this level. Slight rise in grade today but a player all the same.
14. GOTHA – A lightly raced maiden that might find it tough here and therefore others seem likelier.
15. LA COTILIENNE GREY – A maiden taking on winners and will find it very tough. Needs much
more to feature.
16. TARAHUMARA QUEEN – Has not threatened the judges in her last three starts and unlikely to
feature here.
17. LEVANT – Much better effort last time but plenty more needed for the win and others preferred.

Summary : TRIMLIGHT (1) brings a rating of 25 into the race and will be ridden by Christophe
Soumillon. He rode him last time and has stuck with this mount which is encouraging. He has had
a lot of racing and recorded 8 wins and multiple places to date. He is the firm first choice. MISTER
CHARLIE (8) last ran on the 17th April at this venue finishing an encouraging third over 2100m in
Handicap class and has a massive chance today. JAAYIZ (3) is an 8 time winner and one that can
never be discounted. His last few efforts have been a tad below best but he nevertheless, is very
capable and a must for all bets. YOUM IN LOVE (1) has attractive recent form and recently won a
Handicap at Chantilly over 1500m. If he were to follow up, it would not be a shock.

SELECTIONS
TRIMLIGHT (5) – MISTER CHARLIE (8) – JAAYIZ (3) – YOUM IN LOVE (1)

R9 – PRIX DE LA SALLE DU SANGLIER – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. AUSTRAL – Caught the attention when making a sparkling debut in third place at Deauville on
the 10th March. Christophe Soumillon gets the mount.
2. AL FARABI – Finished 3rd at this track on debut and has plenty scope to improve and should
be very competitive.
3. LAND OF DRAGONS – Has raced twice at Chantilly and can build on those efforts but will need
to.
4. ASCOT WAY – Made his debut at Saint-Cloud on the 21st of April and finished fifth over 1600m.
Can improve to get much closer.
5. ALCOTAN – Two average efforts thus far and must show vast improvement to play a role at the
business end.
6. WILD WEST – Debuted 3rd April at this venue over the mile finishing 4th and can improve from
that. Soumillon rode then, but doesn’t now.
7. COSMO BEAU – Has a rating of 34 and based on penultimate run, could get into the picture.
8. RASTIGNAC – Showed good improvement at the second time of asking when second at Montde-Marsan.
9. SIXTUS – Has placed five times from seven goes and has a good chance of earning again.

Summary : AUSTRAL (1) now gets the services of Christophe Soumillon after a very eye catching
performance on debut in March. He finished third over 1900m at Deauville and more than likely has
any amount of improvement to come and could be hard to oppose. AL FARABI (2) is by Kingman
and threatened on debut on the 3rd of April over a mile finishing third. He should have tightened
up from that experience and must be taken very seriously. ASCOT WAY (4) has plenty of scope to
build on his fifth at Saint-Cloud over the mile and has each way claims but might just need one
more race to be cherry ripe. SIXTUS (9) has placed five times from seven attempts and should get
it all right one of these days.

SELECTIONS
AUSTRAL (1) – AL FARABI (2) – ASCOT WAY (4) – SIXTUS (9)

R10 – PRIX DU PAVILLON RUSTIQUE – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 40.000

with experience. Key chance.
4. MOUNT TAMBORA – A good 2nd over course and distance last month when narrowly beaten
in a close finish. Can build on that. Player.
5. PREMIER ORDRE – Unplaced on the latest outing. Won at this venue over 1600m in March.
Likes this track and surface. Not to be ruled out.

Lyon La Soie over 1800m in December. Sure to give a good account.

well. Outside place chance.
8. PEARL HARBOUR – A course winner over the 1900m. Below par on the last start when last of
seven at Saint-Cloud over 2000m 14 days ago. Others preferred.
9. AALTO – 4th at Deauville over 1500m in December in a Class 2 race. Return from a break and
looks up against it.
10. LADY ACE – Unplaced in a Class 1 when last seen at Saint-Cloud 14 days ago over 2000m. A
previous course winner here over the 1900m. Consider.
11. ST PANTALEON – Unplaced on latest run. 3rd over 1900m at this track in March. Needs more
to get involved.

Summary : A very competitive handicap with numerous runners having some sort of chance of
winning, one that is improving with experience is ALASHAR (3) who ran well when beaten under
1L at Lyon La Soie almost three weeks ago, and he can make a bold bid here. The Godolphintrained MOUNT TAMBORA (4) is another who is improving and looks as though he has plenty
more to come, he is one to watch closely. AL BARQ (1) has had a small break after almost making
it four wins in a row, he likes the artificial surface and can be involved. PREMIER ORDRE (5) is a
winner at the track and should once again be on the premises.

SELECTIONS
ALASHAR (3) – MOUNT TAMBORA (4) – AL BARQ (1) – PREMIER ORDRE (5)

R11 – PRIX DE LA ROUTE DE LA DUCHESSE – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27.000

1. KLEORA – Can improve a good deal from a debut run at Longchamp over 2100m 19 days ago.
Drop back in trip by 500m and has to be considered.

Among the top chances.
5. ZAHYANA – Unplaced over 1600m at Chantilly in December on the latest outing. Others rate
higher.

when 3rd over 1600m. Good performance expected.
7. HADYA – 3rd at Le Mans over 1950m in late March. Wears cheekpieces but seems honest
enough, outside place chance.
8. MONTJICA – 2nd at Deauville over 1600m last August. Can be fit for return and ought to be in
the shake-up.
9. AFAREET – Unraced by MUKHADRAM, the Dam was unraced. Betting market best guide to
expected performance.
10. DAYINA – Unraced by DARIYAN, the Dam was placed. Any market moves should be adhered
to.

Summary : KAMIYAH (2) has been performing well and stayed on strongly when second for the
third time on her latest outing at Saint-Cloud. The daughter of FRANKEL could get her first win
today. DARK ZEL (4) was a bit below par over course and distance when last seen but has enough
talent to make the first choice work hard for a win. MONTJICA (8) can progress from a nice thirdplace effort at Deauville and is an each-way must. KLEORA (1) can step forward from her run
earlier this month and has place possibilities.
