Hong Kong Macau Trophy beckons for Beauty

Highly progressive four-year-old BEAUTY ETERNAL will be expected to continue his winning ways contesting Saturday’s return of the Hong Kong Macau Trophy, a Class 1 Handicap over 1400m.

BEAUTY ETERNAL is a name everyone would be familiar with by now, since the John Size-trained talent burst onto the scene in October last year. BEAUTY ETERNAL has only tasted defeat on two occasions from his seven race starts, a luckless third place second-up and his third place finish in the Hong Kong Derby two starts ago when only narrowly beaten by a head in the slow-run race.

BEAUTY ETERNAL bounced back in a big way dropping back to this week’s distance last time, overcoming gate 10 and a moderate tempo to win narrowly but impressively. Despite this being a Class 1, it looks one of the easier races BEAUTY ETERNAL has contested, and he should be able to keep his track and distance record intact and climb higher in the handicap.

Elsewhere, thriving four-year-old HAPPY GOLF is on track to score a hat-trick of wins in the Class 3 Handicap over 1200m.

The Frankie Lor-trained gelding was only moderate in his first two career starts but scored an impressive third-up maiden victory by 1.25 lengths when switching to this track and distance for the first time. Proving it no fluke, he backed it up with another easy 1.5-length win at the top of Class 4 lumping 131lbs, which now brings him up into Class 3 for the first time.

HAPPY GOLF has looked the goods winning a trial in between runs and should be getting one of the better runs of the race from barrier 2 on Saturday. His main rival, EXCELLENT FIGHTER, has drawn out in barrier 11, which could prove all the difference in the run.
