RACE 1
A record of 1 win from 36 starts doesn’t inspire much confidence statistics wise but LEEDSTHEWAY (4) should nearly bounce back in the opener. The gelding is on the seven day backup and looks suited back on home turf. PENANG BANK (3) with similar statistics (1 win from 28 starts) is on the verge of another Class 5 victory and the booking of HS Gill is a plus. SECOND CHANCE (2) has attracted market support in recent starts and is nearing a win despite his best form being over the mile. MYSTICAL STAR (6) is only a moderate beginner but caught the eye when flashing home to finish 4th over 1400m here at the last meeting.
RACE 2
LEESTOWN EXPRESS (1) (1 win from 24 starts) had no luck from a wide draw last time but looks a chance, based on his 2nd placing here two starts back. BRIGHT SUN (5) is yet to place in five local runs but recent trials have been solid. Improvement expected. MERRY BELL (7) is still a maiden but has improved with race experience. DREAMS CAN BE REAL (2) resumes from a bleeding attack and may be suited over the longer trip.
RACE 3
ELUSIVE EMPEROR (1) is a chance of going back to back for the inform Sharee Hamilton stable. Goes up 2.5kg after the claim but the 11yo is racing in consistent form. EL PRIMERO (2) should be at peak fitness following five starts this campaign. TK STAR (6) was a track/distance winner earlier this year while PERFECT RUN (3) made good ground when placed in KL two weeks ago.
RACE 4
GOLD SKY BILLION (1), placed in all three runs this preparation, has a chance to break the drought following his impressive 10 length trial win here Tuesday week ago. He has trained on well and should benefit from the short break. SOMAR (4) can be hard to catch but a win would not surprise on best form. UNDER OATH (5) has only missed a place once in 6 tries at the journey and has won twice on this track previously. FAST AND SUPER (6) has been competitive at this grade without winning but hasn’t been far away in recent starts.
