Course A4 (Rail out 4 metres entire circuit) will be in operation for the 12 race card at Selangor Turf Club on Sunday.
The 1300m Class 3 contest (Race 9) is the high grade race on the program and RESOLUTE (3) will be coming off the seven day back up and should prove hard to beat second up from a short spell. The 6yo couldn’t quite hold off his fast finishing stable mate, Resurgence over 1200m and he will strip fitter from that performance. GOLDEN SARDINE (8) showed terrific pace to lead from gate 11 before being overhauled in a strong Class 3 race three weeks ago. The 5yo posted successive wins at Penang in March and cannot be underestimated in this grade. SACRED GURU (4) is a progressive type resuming with a reasonable first up record and has performed admirably at this level in the past. GOOD FIGHT (5) has a good record of 4 wins from 10 starts locally and won impressively when leading throughout over 1400m here a month ago. RUNNING FLAME (1) goes well first up and is a worthy trifecta contender.
Another recent impressive winner was MAESTRO (4), which dominated to score by just under five lengths at its first run for the HY Cheng yard. The 7yo looks a chance of going back to back in the 1500m Class 4 event (Race 6) despite the weight rise and the outside barrier. PERFECT MISSION (6) was beaten a short head here last start over 1275m but is a handy sit sprinter who was successful at this track/distance on April 2. MANDRAKE (1) should be ready to bounce back following his 3rd placing behind the inform Pasir Pinji on May 7. NAJWAN (2) received no luck when trapped wide without cover last start but his successive victories prior keeps him under notice. MICHIKAWA (7) steps up to a more suitable trip and a forward showing is expected fourth up this preparation.
Leading trainer Richard Lines will be represented by three runners in the 1200m Class 4 event (Race 7) including recent acquisition STRAIGHT AND ARROW (4), which formerly raced as Shepherd’s Hymn in Singapore. STRAIGHT AND ARROW (4) returns from a bleeding attack sustained in November but he has since trialled well behind his highly rated stable mate Excelling here Tuesday week ago. EMPHATIC (2) might prove hard to hold out with race fitness on his side. The 4yo always attracts market support but has maintained solid form since his maiden win back in January. Penang based galloper, GOLD SKY BILLION (1) has been consistent without winning and will strip fitter second up from the short break. META HILTON (6) led throughout for a narrow win on the inner track a fortnight ago, his first Malaysian victory. IRONCLAD (5), also from the Lines yard, has been running on well in recent outings and gets in well at the weights after the claim.
