An exciting 12-race card has been scheduled at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday, with the highest-rated race being a Supreme A contest over 1100m, which is the stand out on the programme.
Talented sprinter AWESOME STORM, currently rated on a high of 113, looks primed to return to winning form in the feature event and atone for a narrow last-start defeat.
AWESOME STORM went close to repeating his 2022 G1 Tunku Gold Cup victory a fortnight ago, trying to lead all the way in this year’s edition. The five-year-old set a solid tempo throughout before being overhauled to finish runner-up, beaten a half-length in a time one second outside the course record.
AWESOME STORM has established himself as one of the premier sprinters in the country, with a local record of eight wins from 15 starts, and should prove hard to beat third-up into his current campaign.
Elsewhere, five-year-old galloper OLYMPIA , who has only scored once from 27 career starts, has the capacity to double his win tally in the Class 5 contest over 1200m.
OLYMPIA had displayed good form at the trials prior to resuming from a six-month break. The gelding started favourite when making its local debut for trainer Simon Dunderdale two weeks ago, finishing a head into second place after vying make all in the run over the 1200m trip.
The former Singapore-based OLYMPIA will strip fitter from that performance and despite not winning since May last year, he looks a chance of opening his Malaysian account second-up this preparation, stepping away from an ideal barrier.
