Racing returns for a 12-race card at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday (June 18), with a Class 3 Handicap over 1075m being the highest-rated race on the programme.
A stand out on the card, in-form five-year-old SIMLONG BEACH appears on track to pick up another Class 5 win when she steps out over the 1175m on Track 2 (race 11).
SIMLONG BEACH has struck form since joining the Sharee Hamilton stables last year, following eight unplaced efforts in Singapore. The American-bred mare chalked up three wins from eighteen Malaysian starts and will be coming off a hat-trick of victories, all at Class 5 level.
The winning streak commenced in Penang back in March, followed by two Selangor victories and the most recent posted on the inner track over 1075m four weeks ago. SIMLONG BEACH has led throughout on each occasion and despite the rise in weight, she looks hard to beat again.
Elsewhere, five-year-old galloper MICHIKAWA is a genuine chance of repeating his most recent winning performance when he lines up in the 1775m Class 4 contest (race 6).
Making his fourth appearance for the Frank Maynard yard, MICHIKAWA came with a late flourish when stepping up to the 1500m here two weeks ago, scoring decisively by 2.5 lengths. The New Zealand-bred gelding has proven his versatility by winning over a range of distances and was successful over 1800m at his previous win just over twelve months ago.
MICHIKAWA rises in the weights but has the best record over this distance range, and looks on track for successive victories this weekend.
