He was a close-up fourth on the poly last start and that experience should hold him in good stead. The grey PROFESSOR LUPIN (5) has started favourite in both starts for Vaughan Marshall. The step up in trip will suit. BEDTIME STORY (7) switches to the poly and horses from the Doug Campbell yard generally love the surface. He has promising form over shorter. Weichong Marwing has a host of runners on the day and PURPLENINJATURTLE (9) has shown some promising Highveld form over the trip.

Rested for six months and over much further at his last start the rest and gelding could bring out the best. OSHAKATI (6) has smart form on the poly which will help his chances. ONE IRISH RIVER (9) has also done well on the poly and must be respected.

He can give Deryl Daniels his first winner back from a long break. Gareth van Zyl sends out STARS IN HEAVEN (1) against older horses but he made a promising debut on the poly. With the best of the draw, he should be a threat to the selection. BENNI IN THE AREA (8) has been holding form well and switches to the poly for Gary Rich and Cole Dicken who had a double last Monday. VICTOR RAIL (6) goes well on the poly and was touched off over course and distance last time out. A must inclusion in all exotic bets.

Stable companion THE GREEN GALLANT (9) is way better than his recent form suggests and can finish in the money. IMAGINABLE (5) has shown promise and may just have needed his last run over shorter, his first back from a lengthy break. SAFE SPACE (6) is consistent and goes well on the poly. TRITON (8) is never far back on the turf and Carl Hewitson’s runner switches to the turf.

TIME TO THE MOON (1) made a promising handicap debut for Weiho Marwing. His lightly raced filly goes this trip for the first time but does look capable in modest company. GARDENIA (4) is a hard knocker and has been in good form of late. She won well last start and must have a chance again. COLUMBIA ROAD (10) has a light weight. She takes on much stronger but has been consistent since her maiden win.

Serino Moodley has opted for the filly over PASCALI (6) but Garth Puller’s charge is in good form and is better off at the weights with ACTION STATIONS (1) when the two last met. POLITICAL PARTY (5) was a recent maiden winner but his form before that was consistent. He has not been out since November last year so may just need this.

Vaughan Marshall saddles SHIFTING PATH (1) who has the best of the draw and that could prove crucial in what should be a tight race. The two veterans WINTER WAVES (9) and IMMEASURABLE (10) should not be far apart at the line but both have drawn wide as has Wendy Whitehead’s charge GRANDE LUPO (8). All three are course and distance suited.

He is dropping in the handicap and should be competitive in this field for Michael Roberts. Gray Rich had his first winner out of Summerveld last Monday and PHAKA IMALI (6) was a close-up second over course and distance last start and can go one better. GREY OCEAN (9) is never far back and the Van Zyl stable is seldom off form. St John Gray is a rare visitor to these shores but it may not be wise to read too much into the presence of FEATHER THE NEST (3) as her owners are mostly locally based.
