Fear The Wind in Rogan Josh Stakes
Thriving five-year-old FEAR THE WIND is on track to post five wins in succession in the $100,000 Rogan Josh Stakes over 2200m at Belmont Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
FEAR THE WIND has found career-best form since rising to the 2200m journey in mid-April, having only tried it once before for a fifth-place finish in the Listed Melvista Stakes in 2021. Five starts ago, he checked in with a luckless third place after racing wide in the early stages before kicking off his winning streak.
Simply loving the staying journey, FEAR THE WIND has won his last four starts by a combined margin of close to five lengths. Champion jockey William Pike remains in the saddle, chasing the picket fence, and trainers Daniel & Ben Pearce appear to have found the perfect race for him to succeed in.
Pike in for a Colossal day
A lower barrier draw can make all the difference to the winning chances of four-year-old COLOSSAL in Saturday’s $80,000 Ratings 66+ Handicap at Belmont Racecourse, Australia.
COLOSSAL has been consistent in his 10-start career, winning twice and placing three more times since debuting in April 2022. Going into this week’s race, third-up, COLOSSAL seems ready to win after a strong second-place finish on May 20, before he made up a significant amount of ground from barrier 11 second-up and was only beaten by 1.2 lengths.
With barrier 5 on Saturday, there’s an opportunity for jockey William Pike to position closer to the speed, and the gelding’s sharp turn-of-foot will prove him hard to hold out late.
Ole Ola, more to come
In-form four-year-old mare OLE OLA is primed to complete a hat-trick of wins this Sunday when she contests the $25,000 BM60 race over 1600m at Hobart racecourse, Australia.
OLE OLA has been racing in career-best form this preparation, scoring twice and being further placed once from four starts. Following an easy 2.25-length win over 1430m in this class two starts ago, the Adelaide mare defied the rise in class when scoring by 3.25 lengths in a BM64 race over this track and distance last time out.
Despite carrying the topweight after the drop in class this week, OLE OLA is ideally placed in a moderate field, and with the apprentice claim, she looks on track to continue her winning ways.
Cahill keen on Enterprise Legend
Three-year-old gelding ENTERPRISE LEGEND is primed to land his first career win in the $27,000 Maiden race over 1010m at Murwillumbah racecourse this Sunday.
ENTERPRISE LEGEND has been placed twice from six starts to date and he produced a much improved effort at his Murwillumbah debut three weeks ago. Despite drawn awkwardly that day, the son of Capitalist bounced straight to the lead and fought well in the straight before being caught in the final 100m, beaten 1.4 lengths into second over 1100m.
From pole position this week, ENTERPRISE LEGEND should endure a perfect run and he can prove hard to run down for jockey Michael Cahill.
