Kibou to kick second-up

Quality three-year-old gelding KIBOU is primed to atone for a narrow last-start defeat in Saturday’s $150,000 Benchmark 88 Handicap over 1500m at Rosehill Racecourse, Australia.

KIBOU resumed after a 10-month break on June 10, and was urged forward from a wide draw, leading throughout the 1200m journey at Randwick. He was only challenged inside the 100m and fought gamely, but ultimately lost by the narrowest of margins in the final few strides.

As a three-time winner from six starts, KIBOU should be improving significantly in terms of fitness for his second-up run. Additionally, he has drawn favourably in barrier 1, which suits his front-running pattern.

Upper Limits to rise in Aquanita Stakes

Consistent three-year-old UPPER LIMITS is the one to beat in Saturday’s $125,000 Listed Aquanita Stakes over 2000m at Belmont Racecourse, Australia.

The one-time winner and eight-time place-getter is fourth-up in his current preparation and is itching to score a second career win after three consecutive runner-up spots. In his last start, in a slow-run race, UPPER LIMITS was too far back in the run, but he made his usual strong late bid and was gallant in defeat.

Although trying this week’s distance for the first time in his career, his pattern and powerful turn-of-foot indicate that he should see it through. A well-timed ride from jockey William Pike should make UPPER LIMITS the hardest to hold off.

Fawkner to walk in the Park

Talented four-year-old gelding FAWKNER PARK can score five wins in a row this Saturday when he contests the $150,000 BM78 race over 2400m at Rosehill Gardens, Australia.

FAWKNER PARK broke his maiden at Dundalk in Ireland four starts ago before scoring his subsequent three starts in Australia. Most recently, the Zoffany gelding defied a slow tempo when letting down well to score an impressive win over 2000m at this track, suggesting he has plenty of scope.

FAWKNER PARK faces no tougher task this week as he remains in the same class, and with the apprentice claim, he is well weighted to continue his winning ways.
