Gracilistyla set to grace winning photo
Four-year-old gelding GRACILISTYLA is on track to bounce back for an overdue win in Saturday’s $150,000 Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1600m from Randwick Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
GRACILISTYLA hasn’t won a race in 10 starts since last scoring on March 10 in 2022, but recent runs suggest the Chris Waller-trained grey-brown is trending in the right direction. GRACILISTYLA only found one too good last start over 1500m, doing his best work late into second place while the winner led and made all under a moderate tempo.
GRACILISTYLA looks ready for the mile fourth-up now, and should be hard to hold out late under in-form apprentice jockey, Zac Lloyd.
Ihts Closing Inn on her fifth-straight win
Thriving three-year-old filly IHTS CLOSING INN appears to be all set to continue her big-race success by competing in the $125,000 Listed Belmont Classic over 2200m at Belmont Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
IHTS CLOSING INN has emerged victorious in her last four races, with a combined winning margin of over seven lengths. Her latest triumph came in the form of her biggest victory yet in the Listed Belmont Oaks over 2000m.
The seven-time winner will be stretching to 2200m for the first time in her 14-start career. Nevertheless, there are clear indications that she will be able to handle the distance.
Maloney confident with Thorpe
Jockey Ryan Maloney will be confident that in-form three-year-old THORPE can complete a hat-trick of wins in the $28,000 BM65 race over 1400M at the Sunshine Coast racecourse this Sunday.
THORPE has been a consistent type since day one, scoring three times and being further placed three times from six starts. The Fastnet Rock gelding won his last two starts in fine style when displaying tactical speed to score by a combined margin of three lengths, suggesting he is on an upward spiral.
This week, THORPE remains in the same class and he is well placed in a field that lacks natural speed, so he is expected to dictate on his own terms and a third straight win looks well within his reach.
Lady Weir First on Sunday
Four-year-old mare HIS FIRST LADY looks on track to land her first career win this Sunday when she contests the $27,000 Maiden race over 1700m at Grafton racecourse, Australia.
HIS FIRST LADY has shown improvement recently with two placings from her last five starts. The Sooboog mare caught the eye with a slashing third at Taree last time out when she let down sharply in the straight to miss by only a neck over 1600m.
From pole position this week, HIS FIRST LADY should endure a perfect trip and she can prove hard to beat under jockey Mikayla Weir against moderate rivals.
