Impressive debut winner AKHTAR looks on track to go back-to-back this Sunday when he returns to Kranji in the $70,000 Class 3 Handicap over 1000m on the Polytrack.
AKHTAR formerly raced in Australia where he scored once from seven starts. The son of I Am Invincible had trialled well prior to his local debut two weeks ago, so it was no surprise to see him receive heavy market support in the Class 4 race that day. Sitting on speed and dictating on his own terms, the Jason Ong-trained four-year-old drew away in the straight to score by 2.25 lengths effortlessly over 1100m at this track.
Based on the manner in which AKHTAR won his debut, he looks to have some rating points up his sleeve. Despite rising to Class 3 this week, his untapped potential holds him in good stead to continue his winning ways.
