Race Preview
R1 – PRIX DE CREVECOEUR – 1500m (a7 1/2f) – TURF – Condition Race – Newcomers – Flat – EUR € 50.000
1. CALANDAGAN – Gleneagles newcomer trained by Francis-Henri Graffard. The booking of
Maxime Guyon is worth respecting
2. ELBAZ – Aga Khan’s Siyouni colt out of a dam whose first two foals have won, albeit at three.
Not taken lightly
3. CALYPSO KING – Well-related Stéphane Wattel-trained Calyx colt whose brother won at Group
level. Must be respected
4. BURGUNDY REGAL – Fabrice Chappet-trained City Light colt who will be ridden by Christophe
Soumillon. Has to be included given trainer’s success with young horses
5. UN INSTANT – Le Havre colt to be ridden on debut by Anthony Crastus for trainer Nicolas Perret.
Could get into the picture
6. HUMAN EVOLUTION – Study Of Man newcomer to be ridden by Stéphane Pasquier for trainer
Pascal Bary. Not without a chance
7. SHADOW ART – Well-bred Masar newcomer out of a Shamardal mare. Makes plenty of appeal
on paper and for leading connections
8. CLASH OF CURRENTS – Fabrice Vermeulen-trained colt, who is a son of Zoustar, with Alexis
Pouchin engaged to ride. Watch
Summary : This coveted prize, for unraced two-year-old colts and geldings, is usually won by an
exciting youngster whose progress it will pay to follow. SHADOW ART (7) has an attractive
pedigree so gets the nod ahead of BURGUNDY REGAL (4), who is certainly one to watch with the
booking of Christophe Soumillon worth noting. Well-related Calyx colt CALYPSO KING (3), whose
half-brother won a Group III, is also likely to be competitive. ELBAZ (2) hails from a good Aga Khan
family and is another to keep an eye on.
SELECTIONS
SHADOW ART (7) – BURGUNDY REGAL (4) – CALYPSO KING (3) – ELBAZ (2)
R2 – PRIX DES MARETTES – 1500m (a7 1/2f) – TURF – Condition Race – Newcomers – Flat – EUR € 50.000
1. FORLONGE – American Pharoah debutante out of high-class performer Flotilla, Breeders Cup
winner as a two-year-old and winner of the Group I Poule d’Essai at three. Follow
2. PROTOSTAR – Pascal Bary-trained Nathaniel debutante out of a Niarchos mare who was
speedy. Can get into the picture with Stéphane Pasquier aboard
3. GOOD TIME ROLL – New Bay filly who represents the same connections as Beauvatier,
unbeaten in 3 starts. Warrants respect
4. DALKAVA – Alexis Pouchin rides this Fabrice Vermeulen-trained debutante by Ten Sovereigns.
Appeals to lovers of outsiders
5. MLLE MOLIERE – Well-bred Kingman filly, dam won at Group II level and has already produced
a Listed-race winner. One to note
6. DARLING DARLING – Nicolas Perret-trained Dabirsim filly making her debut with Tony Piccone
engaged to ride. For another day
7. ALABAMA MOON – Bauyrzhan Murzabayev rides this daughter of Jimmy Two Times on debut
for Hans-Albert Blume. Upset potential
8. GALIMATIA – Well-bred daughter of Kingman who makes her debut here having been
supplemented to participate. Keep safe
9. DIDJIE – Goken debutante to be ridden by Hugo Journiac for trainer Nicolas Caullery. Likely to
start as the outsider of the field
Summary : The fillies’ equivalent of the opening contest is likely to go the way of either JeanClaude Rouget or André Fabre, with their respective runners FORLONGE (1) and MISS MOLIERE
(5) of particular interest given their attractive pedigrees. GOOD TIME ROLL (3) hails from a stable
that has done well with its two-year-olds this season, so must also be respected. GALIMATIA (8)
was supplemented to participate so is another to keep an eye on.
SELECTIONS
FORLONGE (1) – MLLE MOLIERE (5) – GOOD TIME ROLL (3) – GALIMATIA (8)
R3 – PRIX DES COLLECTIVITES LOCALES – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – ALL WEATHER – Divised Handicap – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 53.000
1. BOSIOH – Quinté+ winner at Saint-Cloud last time, earning a 3kg penalty. and was
supplemented to participate here. Effective on the PSF, cannot be taken lightly
2. NIGHTHAB – Was declared a non-runner at Dieppe a few days ago given the condition of the
track. Out of sorts recently but thrives on PSF, should not be underestimated
3. SAINT HELLIER – This son of Le Havre is back on track with his only success in a Quinté+
(December 22, 2022), but he has shown his limits in the handicaps with a value of 41. Given the
skill of those around him, he would still be imprudent to ban him for fourth or fifth place.
4. INDIAN PACIFIC – Has sparked improvement recently, and did not go unnoticed last time (4th).
Competitive off his current mark with sound references on PSF, place chance
5. NEPALAIS – Finished 2nd three times at this level before a deserving last-start success at LyonParilly. Has regained freshness and is proven at this course, so should better last year’s finish (9th)
6. HOLLYHOCK – Declared non-runner on July 25 in Dieppe, this 4-year-old gelding falls back on
this event. It has interesting lines and its value has been revised downwards. That said, this
distance probably represents the end of the world… At the end of the road.
7. WHITE WHISKY – Absent from the programs for eleven months, this former resident of Fabrice
Chappet has run four times since his return, with varying fortunes. He has never disappointed on
the sand, but his level of form is difficult to assess. To retain it or not is a matter of impression.
8. KHOCHENKO – Well-performed veteran, finished 3rd in this race last year off a mark 3kg higher
than his current value. Proven on this surface and at this track, ought to be competitive
9. UZEL – Track specialist who progressed during the spring and has been absent since May, but
runs well fresh. Has little wiggle room off this mark but is a potential winner
10. BAZOQUES – Inconsistent this year and has never succeeded in a handicap off a mark greater
than 36.5, so looks too high in the weights to play a role here. Others preferred
11. SALDURO – This 7-year-old gelding has not been spared health concerns and has only
competed in 11 races since the start of his career. Author of a very good comeback on June 23, it
does not however have any reference on fiber sand. Faced with surface specialists, he would fulfill
his contract by catching a small lot.
12. ALERIO – Won the coveted Prix Juigné on debut but has disappointed since. Was well beaten
in first start for Andreas Schutz last time and is drawn widest here
13. GREAT ROTATION – Consistent for the most part, especially in the big handicaps. Makes his
reappearance after a three-month absence and has placed twice from as many starts at this track.
Dark horse
14. DRAGONET – Won this race 12 months ago off a 2kg higher mark. Has lost his form on the turf
recently but will be a different proposition on this surface, so cannot be taken lightly
15. ANCTOT – Won at Saint-Cloud last October but has struggled since and looked much the same
in his two comeback races. Switches to PSF now but makes little appeal 16. LORENZO DE MEDICI – Both career wins have come on this surface but, while he remains
capable of having a say in the finish, he does tend to blow his chances by starting slowly. All or
nothing
Summary : Track specialist UZEL (9) is very efficient racing fresh after a break, so the fact that he
has been absent since 23 May is no handicap at all, in fact, quite the contrary. He was a winner
here back in April and is more than capable of repeating that feat. KHOCHENKO (8) is inconsistent
but ought to be competitive with Christophe Soumillon aboard and could fight for the win, though
the same could be said of DRAGONET (14) despite his recent uninspiring form on the turf. He did
win this race last year and will appreciate a return to this surface. LORENZO DE MEDICI (16),
capable of good things when starting on terms, and last-start winner NEPALAIS (5) should not be
underestimated either. BOSIOH (1), INDIAN PACIFIC (4) and NIGHTHAB (2) appeal most of the
remainder.
SELECTIONS
UZEL (9) – KHOCHENKO (8) – DRAGONET (14) – LORENZO DE MEDICI (16)
R4 – PRIX DE CABOURG – 1200m (a6f) – TURF – Group 3 – Group – Flat – EUR € 80.000
1. ELITE STATUS – Winner of his first 2 starts before finishing 3rd in the Group II Norfolk Stakes
at Royal Ascot. Holds strong claims on that form
2. REVEILLER – Won on debut but failed to confirm that promise when only 7th last time. Remains
open to improvement and could reaffirm
3. SAJIR – Justified betting support by making a winning debut at Saint-Cloud. Open to any amount
of improvement given that experience
4. POWER MODE – Debut winner at Yarmouth over this trip and is likely to have come on given
the benefit of that experience. Booking of Ryan Moore catches the eye
5. THE FIXER – Most experienced runner in the race. Blotted his copybook at Royal Ascot but is
capable of a lot better and cannot be written off just yet
6. HAVANA CIGAR – An exciting prospect. Was impressive in winning both starts and looks the
type capable of passing this test
Summary : A two-year-old Group III sprint that pits French colts against British colts. HAVANA
CIGAR (6), who is one of three unbeaten runners in the race, has swept aside his rivals in winning
both outings and looks the type to reach greater heights. ELITE STATUS (1) was beaten for the
first time, but lost little in defeat, when finishing 3rd in the Group II Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot
and will fight for victory on the strength of that form. Debut winner SAJIR (3) and experienced THE
FIXER (5) appeal most of the remainder.
SELECTIONS
HAVANA CIGAR (6) – ELITE STATUS (1) – SAJIR (3) – THE FIXER (5)
R5 – PRIX HEMISPHERE SUD – 1100m (a5 1/2f) – TURF – Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 20.000
1. JOSEJOSEPHINE – On a very long losing streak and she has struggled in four handicaps this
year. Needs to find her best form to win this race
2. SEASCAPE GIRL – Unreliable and has struggled in handicap company but picked up a nice win
in a conditions race last time out and has a winning chance
3. KOUTSOUNAKOS – A bit of a disappointment when only sixth in a handicap last time out. In
good form before that and can fight out the finish
4. ISMAEL PAINT – Consistent without winning this year and ran well when runner-up last time out.
Threatening to win and can go one better this time
5. BUTI – Disappointing on the turf this year. Clearly better on the PSF but has been supplemented
for this race so deserves some respect
6. BIRD OUT – Disappointing two runs on the turf of late. Did better in claimers earlier this year.
Supplemented for this race and has run well at this course so has a winning chance
7. PICWOCKY – Well tried this year and did win a handicap on the PSF earlier this year off a higher
mark than this. Capable of bouncing back to score
Summary : ISMAEL PAINT (4) has yet to win a race this year but gets an ideal opportunity in this
small field She has been very consistent of late and looks the one to be with. SEASCAPE GIRL (2)
picked up a nice win last win but has struggled in handicaps. PICWOCKY (7) won a handicap on
the PSF earlier this year off a higher mark than this so clearly has a winning chance.
KOUTSOUNAKOS (3) disappointed last time out but is capable of better and is not out of it.
SELECTIONS

R6 – PRIX ROTHSCHILD – 1600m (a1m) – TURF – Group 1 – Group – Flat – EUR € 300.000
1. LIFE IN MOTION – Made a winning start to the year but has gone the wrong way since and
managed only to finish 6th last time. Others preferred
2. MQSE DE SEVIGNE – Runner-up in each of her three outings this season. Has solid form
references but no more than a place chance
3. GRANDE DAME – British filly, was relatively consistent last year boasting sound form references
and is likely to have tightened up after a comeback outing. Blinkers fitted now
4. TAIRANN – Has not done enough in her two starts this year to warrant any consideration here,
so can be ruled out
5. ROGUE MILLENNIUM – Has matured and made considerable improvement this season.
Capable of making further progress, so can’t be discounted
6. SOUNDS OF HEAVEN – Closely matched with REMARQUEE (8) on recent form. Finished
alongside the selection in the Group I Coronation Stakes, so should be a factor
7. SAUTERNE – Has made encouraging progress this year and can boast solid form references.
Not one to take lightly
8. REMARQUEE – Runner-up in consecutive Group I races over this distance recently and will fight
for victory again. One to beat
9. KELINA – Stamped her authority by winning the Group II Prix de Sandringham last time and is
likely to play a leading role with a repeat of that performance
Summary : This renewal of the prestigious Prix Rothschild, a Group I race for fillies and mares, is
likely to be dominated by the three-year-old brigade. REMARQUEE (8), who has finished 2nd in
consecutive Group I races over this trip recently, deserves to be rewarded and should prove hard
to beat on that form. KELINA (9), who ran out an impressive winner of the Group II Prix de
Sandringham at Chantilly last time, ought to pose a threat with a repeat of that performance.
SOUNDS OF HEAVEN (6) is closely matched with the selection on the form of their Royal Ascot
meeting, so cannot be discounted. ROGUE MILLENNIUM (5) and SAUTERNE (7) are capable of
staking a claim too. Quality aplenty!
SELECTIONS

R7 – PRIX MANGALIE D’ALBRET – WATHBA STALLIONS CUP – 1900m (a1 3/16m) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 18.000
1. KARLA DU CROATE – Not beaten too far when sixth on debut in May. Should be smarter this
time and can fight out the finish in this line-up
2. TULAITILA – Did not get beaten too far when seventh on debut. Capable of improvement and
can finish in the money this time
3. ASH’RAQAT – Promising debut when third at Toulouse in May. Did not repeat when fifth at this
course last time out but can bounce back to score
4. AL BASRA – A three-year-old filly by Al Mourtajez out of Topaze of the Croatian who is making
her debut. Watch the betting
5. MEZNAH – A three-year-old filly by Al Mamun Monlau out of Walaa who is making her debut.
Can win
6. SW MYTHAQ – A three-year-old filly by Af Al Buraq out of Injuzz who is making her debut. Watch
the betting
7. RB PARIS FLYGHT – A three-year-old filly by Al Mamun Monlau and Frynch who is making her
debut. Watch the betting
8. DIVANA CHICA – A three-year-old filly by Majd Al Arab out of Divana who is making her debut.
Watch the betting
9. NORMA AL MAURY – A three-year-old filly by Azadi out of Nemosie Al Maury who is making
her debut. Watch the betting
10. LAGTAIFIA – A three-year-old filly by Asraa Min Albarq out Cocktail de Ghazal who is making
her debut. Watch the betting
11. NUJWA – A three-year-old filly by No Risk Al Maury out of Maolie who is making her debut.
Watch the betting
Summary : A race where the majority of them are making their debut so it is likely that the betting
will be a good guide. MEZNAH (5) looks the most obvious newcomer that should run well on debut.
ASH’RAQAT (3) ran well on debut and was not disgraced when fifth last time out at this course and
has a winning chance. KARLA DU CROATE (1) ran well when sixth on debut and should be smarter
this time and be a threat. TULAITILA (2) was not disgraced on debut and should have more to offer.
