Three-year-old colt Big Rock will bid for Group One glory in the Prix Jacques le Marois (1600m) at Deauville, France on Sunday.
Trainer by Christopher Head, Big Rock has enjoyed an exceptional season thus far. It commenced with a decisive 5.5-length victory in a handicap race on February 11, followed by a hat-trick of wins at Listed and Group 3 level, scoring by a combined margin of 12 lengths.
Big Rock lost no admirers last start when finishing 3.5 lengths behind Ace Impact in the Group 1 Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (2100m), who is also the current favourite for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Overseas fixed-odds markets currently have Big Rock a well supported $3.75 favourite after opening $7.0.
Defending champion Inspiral features among the 12 entries as John and Thady Gosden’s filly looks to atone from a below-par effort in the Sussex Stakes last time.
Other UK raider, Triple Time, for trainer Kevin Ryan also brings plenty of intrigue to the race after winning the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
