Champion jockey Jamie Kah is poised to make her highly anticipated return to riding on the prestigious Group 1 $1 million Winx Stakes day at Royal Randwick this Saturday.
Kah hasn’t ridden since suffering head injuries in a horror fall in the Group 2 VRC Sires at Flemington March 11, which led to her being placed in an induced coma with bleeding on the brain. However, pending a medical clearance, Kah is all set for a return to the saddle, with trainer Annabel Neasham booking the premier rider on Zaaki in the featured Group 1 Winx Stakes.
Despite being sidelined for the final four and a half months of the 2022-23 racing season, Kah still managed to secure second place on the Victoria Metro Jockey Premiership ladder with 59 wins — just seven behind Blake Shinn, who claimed the championship with 66 wins. Meanwhile, Hong Kong-based jockeys, Hugh Bowman and Brenton Avdulla, will both return to Australia to ride in the Winx Stakes. Bowman will ride Lindermann while Avdulla will partner Osipenko, both for Chris Waller.
