Some of the Australia’s most progressive three-year-olds go to battle at Rosehill on Saturday, as a competitive field lines up in the $250,000 Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m).
This year there’s a field of 12 that have accepted to contest the San Domenico Stakes headed up by a colt from one of the world’s biggest racing and breeding operations – Godolphin. CORNICHE arguably brings some of the strongest form to the table after beating subsequent G3 Pago Pago and G1 Golden Slipper winner, Shinzo, in the G2 Skyline Stakes the last time he raced.
The James Cummings-trained talent has been well supported in overseas markets at the time of writing, currently a $5 chance in an even betting market with the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained colt THE INSTRUCTOR a loose $4.8 favourite.
Hat-trick beckons for Phanta-tastic six-year-old
In-form six-year-old PHANTA is poised to land a hat-trick of wins in the $125,000 Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes (1300m) at Belmont Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
Since transferring from the east coast of Australia, where he was trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, PHANTA has been ultra-consistent for Ascot-based horsemen Chris & Michael Gangemi. From 12 starts, PHANTA has only finished outside of the top two on three occasions.
Since resuming from a six-month break in late July, PHANTA has won his last two races as good as ever at Listed level, which paves the way for him to be remain hard to beat on Saturday.
