Race Preview
R1 – PRIX BOURBON-BUSSET ET PIERRE DE ROUGE – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Claiming – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16.000
1. WOFF – Has won at Quinte+ level on PSF as well as a claiming race on turf. Out of sorts
recently but is capable of having a say here
2. ESSAI TRANSFORME – Unplaced in both outings under a penalty incurred for winning three
starts back but ought to play a leading role given this ease in grade with Maxime Guyon engaged.
Keep safe
3. DREAM FOR ALL – Unreliable but not incapable of staking a claim in a race of this nature.
Hard to trust but is as hard to rule out
4. BOBIK – Imposed himself when winning a handicap at Lyon-Parilly and his unplaced
subsequent efforts have come in a Quinte+ event and, most recently, on the PSF. Capable of
better
5. MONSIEUR BEAULIEU – Seldom finishes far off the mark and will benefit from his rider’s
1,5kg allowance. Has a place chance
6. BIG BOOTS – Consistent veteran in good form and physical condition. Has the means to play
a leading role in this grade
7. ON THE EDGE – Well-performed veteran mare up 3kg for winning a handicap last time. Last
raced off this mark all the way back in 2019
8. HEBE – Moderate veteran mare with just one win to her name. Has looked rather ordinary for
some time now so can be ruled out
9. FANTABULOUS – Unplaced in his last two starts after returning from a layoff but has, for the
most part, been relatively consistent. Dropped 1,5kg and remains capable, can redeem himself
Summary : After dropping 1,5kg after two unplaced comeback efforts, FANTABULOUS (9)
deserves another chance in this opening event. At peak fitness now and at an attractive value
(just 1kg above his last winning mark), he ought to redeem himself by fighting for victory under
Aurélien Lemaitre. BIG BOOTS (6), however, is likely to pose a threat in his first start at this level
having maintained a good level of form and consistency in conditions and handicap races
recently, which can also be said of TRANSFORMED TEST (2) who was not disgraced (7th) in a
Quinté+ race last time and remains competitive. BOBIK (4) is out of sorts but not incapable of
getting involved either.
SELECTIONS
FANTABULOUS (9) – BIG BOOTS (6) – ESSAI TRANSFORME (2) – BOBIK (4)
R2 – PRIX LA FORTAGNE – 1400m (a7f) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 17.000
1. JACKADI – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to trust but is
as hard to rule out
2. LE ROCKEUR – Unexposed and capable of staking a claim in a race of this nature with
improvement expected. Failed to build on an encouraging debut (5th) when only 7th last time but
should have more to offer
3. EVER READY – Has looked distinctly ordinary in each outing and on both surfaces so is hard
to make a case for here. Others preferred
4. NOVE SU NOVE – Finished unplaced last time when returning from a break but, that aside,
has been largely consistent. Should do better with improved fitness on his side
5. SHORT FINAL – Finished 2nd on his reappearance and was disappointing, although not
disgraced, when only 5th last time. Capable of better and rider’s 3,5kg allowance is a bonus
6. INTRIGUATOR – Did not go unnoticed on debut (5th) but failed to improve with the benefit of
that experience when only 9th last time. Must bounce back
7. TANAIYLA – Aga Khan filly who has joined Francis-Henri Graffard having started her career in
Ireland with Dermot Weld. Has shown enough to be competitive
8. QUEEN KAHINA – Confirmed the improvement of her previous outing (5th) when finishing 3rd
last time and could have a say if making further progress
9. KAKHOVKA – Has been steadily gaining momentum while maintaining a good level of
consistency. Runner-up last time and is likely to be involved again
10. TOOGOODFORSCHOOL – Inconsistent although not incapable of getting into the picture with
headgear refitted. Best kept safe
Summary : SHORT FINAL (5) has run two encouraging comeback races and, although a little
disappointing at Vichy last time (5th), is worth another chance here on the evidence of his 2nd at
Saint-Cloud when resuming. TANAIYLA (7) showed enough in Ireland to warrant respect in her
first start on French soil, while unexposed LE ROCKEUR (2) is open to improvement and capable
of making his presence felt too. NOVE SU NOVE (4) and KAKHOVKA (9) complete the shortlist.

SHORT FINAL (5) – TANAIYLA (7) – LE ROCKEUR (2) – NOVE SU NOVE (4)
R3 – PRIX DES ERABLES – 1000m (a5f) – TURF – Condition Race – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 23.000
1. LOYAL PRINCE – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to trust
but is as hard to rule out
2. GOGOKA – Sparked improvement when dropped back in trip to contest an 1100m claiming
race. Must confirm that improvement
3. TEMPO – Well-beaten 8th on debut and, while likely to improve with the benefit of that
experience, is best just to watch for now
4. ZEPLACETOBE – Made an encouraging introduction (4th) in a good field and that form has
held up well. Should have more to offer
5. GODAKA – Improved with the benefit of debut experience to finish 3rd at her second start and
was pitched into a Listed race last time (7th). Will fare better here
6. MARY GOLD – Has confirmed the improvement of her victory three starts back by finishing 2nd
in consecutive starts since. Keep safe
7. YOLLILAL – Has performed consistently to a good level and her experience ought to stand her
in good stead here. Respect
8. DESCARTES – Mehmas colt debuting for trainer Henri-François Devin who has engaged
Clément Lecoeuvre to ride. Not taken lightly
9. ACHILL ISLAND – François Monfort-rained Ten Sovereigns debutante to be ridden by Antoine
Subias. Not taken lightly
Summary : ZEPLACETOBE (4) finished a promising 4th on debut behind two talented fillies who
have since franked the form with a 1-2 finish in a maiden at Deauville. On that form, she is hard to
oppose here with natural improvement expected given the benefit of that experience. GODAKA
(5) made significant improvement from her debut to finish 3rd in her next start and she ought to
be more competitive in this grade having been pitched into a Listed race last time. MARY GOLD
(6) and YOLLILAL (7) have the form and experience to join the fight for victory.
SELECTIONS
ZEPLACETOBE (4) – GODAKA (5) – MARY GOLD (6) – YOLLILAL (7)
R4 – PRIX DE L’ALLIER – 1000m (a5f) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20.000
1. NIGHTCALL – Found wanting in Listed and Quinte+ races recently but ought to fare better
back in a handicap off a reduced (1kg) mark. Redemption awaits
2. LINFASOMMER – Won back-to-back claiming races with blinkers before finishing 6th in her
hat-trick bid last time. Has been dropped 1,5kg but the headgear has been removed
3. GALALITHE – Unreliable filly but is not entirely incapable of getting into the picture in a race of
this nature. Cannot be discounted
4. PELUSIVE – Has rediscovered her form/consistency in recent outings and performed well
behind RISE ABOVE (5) last time. Keep safe
5. RISE ABOVE – Improving with each outing and has found form at this level recently, finishing
2nd last time. Wiil be a factor
6. FORTUNE GOLD – Consistent for the most part and maintained his form with a pleasing 4th on
his handicap debut. Can have a say
7. UN PLUS UNE – Sparked improvement to finish 2nd last time but will need to confirm that
progress to stake a claim. Dark horse
8. CUREJ – Has struggled to regain any form/consistency for some time now and is not likely to
trouble the judge here
9. GAUDENZIA – Has not gone unnoticed in most of her outings but needs to improve to be
competitive for a leading role. Place chance only
Summary : NIGHTCALL (1), according to the figures, may appear to have lost her way but those
recent outings were in Listed and Quinte+ races that were considerably stronger than this event,
having acquitted herself well in competitive fields in two starts earlier this campaign. She could,
therefore, be worth siding with here and is likely to take advantage of the relief (1kg) given to her
by the handicapper. RISE ABOVE (5) has improved in two starts at this level and is the biggest
danger to the selection. PELUSIVE (4), after finishing 4th in a reference race, and FORTUNE
GOLD (6), who remains competitive in this grade albeit over further, are also capable of staking a
claim.
SELECTIONS
NIGHTCALL (1) – RISE ABOVE (5) – PELUSIVE (4) – FORTUNE GOLD (6)
R5 – PRIX VIDEO ROCK – 2400m (a1 1/2m) – TURF – Condition Race – Flat – EUR € 16.500
1. KOLOKICO – Finished a good 3rd at this track on his introduction and ought to have improved
for that experience. Will have supporters
2. KATE COUNTESS – Finished 4th over 2400m on debut at Le Lion-d’Angers and will be wiser
to the task given the benefit of that experience
3. KELLY D’OLVA – Made an encouraging debut at the Lion d’Angers to finish 4th and should
have more to offer. Respect
4. KAMILLA DALBIUS – Improved with the benefit of an introductory outing to finish 5th last time
but must raise her game again to have a say here
5. KAHID DE FREGANDE – Emmanuel Clayeux-trained Estejo gelding debuting with Axelle
Nicco, who has a 1,5kg allowance, engaged to ride
6. KING THOU LEZ – Eddy Hardouin rides this Willywell newcomer, whose brother Jack Thou
Lez has performed well, for Philippe & Camille Peltier
7. KOKTAIL DIVIN – Masked Marvel colt in the care of a trainer skilled in this category. Must be
followed closely on debut
8. KUALA LUMPUR – Emmanuel Clayeux-trained Karaktar debutante who warrants respect with
Théo Bachelot engaged to ride
9. KARABI DE FREGANDE – Aurélien Lemaitre is engaged to ride this Estejo filly on debut for
Emmanuel Clayeux. Will appeal to lovers of outsiders
10. KARINA SWEEN – Beaumec De Houelle debutante whose dam excelled at Group II level.
Tony Piccone rides for trainer Anne-Sophie Pacault
11. KORONA PHIL – Well-bred Mickaël Seror-trained Bathyrhon filly to be ridden on debut by
Augustin Madamet. Cannot be discounted
Summary : Newcomer KOKTAIL DIVIN (7), who is a son of a Group I winner and closely related
to a Group II runner-up, could get his career off to a thunderous start. KOLOKICO (1) finished a
promising 3rd on debut against more experienced rivals and is likely to improve with the benefit of
that experience, so ought to fight for victory. KARINA SWEEN (10) and KORONA PHIL (11) are
other well-bred newcomers to take note of. KELLY D’OLVA (3) was an encouraging 4th on her
introduction and that experience should stand her in good stead.
SELECTIONS
KOKTAIL DIVIN (7) – KOLOKICO (1) – KARINA SWEEN (10) – KORONA PHIL (11)
R6 – PRIX DES FRESNES – 2800m (a1 3/4m) – TURF – Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 18.000
1. CAP FAREWELL – Finished a disappointing 8th last time but showed enough previously to
suggest that he’s capable of better, especially with a professional jockey now engaged
2. LA BARILLETTE – Returned to winning ways last time (second victory from her last three
starts) and ought to remain competitive pitched into a handicap
3. MUNAADRAM – Consistent for the most part and has struck up a good relationship with
Maxime Guyon and once again promises to be competitive for the top spots.
4. NANA GINA – Finished a disappointing 7th last time but would’ve been unsuited by the state of
the track. Remains capable of better and has the means to do well at this level
5. RUBY ROSE – inconsistent although not incapable and seldom finishes far off the mark on a
going day. Not relaible but is hard to rule out
6. SON ON FIRE – Finished a reassuring 2nd last time but will need to confirm that improvement
to get a look in here
7. MONFRERE – Has blown hot and cold recently, so remains capable of getting into the picture
here but is not one to be trusted. Dark horse
8. THE FOOTMAN – Unreliable and out of sorts at present but seldom finishes far off the mark on
a going day and is likely to fare better given a resultant drop in the weights
9. EUSTACHE – Has struggled to regain any form/consistency for some time now so is not likely
to trouble the judge
10. BELLE BREIZH – Versatile sort, proving effective on the flat and not incapable over hurdles
either. Only a place chance
11. CHONBURI – Confirmed the improvement of her two previous outings by winning last time.
More required to win again but has a place chacne
Summary : NANA GINA (4) proved over the winter that she has the means to acquit herself
competitively at this level so, despite her indifferent latest start (7th) which could be attributed to
the unfavourable ground/state of the track, is worth another chance and taken to set the record
straight at the expense of LA BARILLETTE (2), who is proven in this grade and likely to play a
leading role in the finish. MUNAADRAM (3), CAP FAREWELL (1), and CHONBURI (11) make
most appeal of the remainder and can get into the picture too.
SELECTIONS
NANA GINA (4) – LA BARILLETTE (2) – MUNAADRAM (3) – CAP FAREWELL (1)
R7 – PRIX DE PARAY LE MONIAL – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16.000
1. ALFIERI – Inconsistent veteran but is not entirely incapable of getting into the picture. Has only
a place chance
2. TENNESSEE JOHN – Consistent performer who has maintained his form in both starts under a
penalty after winning three runs back. Winning chance
3. COEUR DE ROUME – Caught the eye when finishing 3rd on his reappearance and will be fitter
with the benefit of that run. Could also have more to offer now pitched into a handicap
4. WILLY BOY – Finished 2nd in two of his last three starts in 2022 but is best watched for now
returning from a long layoff
5. PUMPY GIRL – Consistent for the most part and boasts solid form references. Maxime Guyon
engaged to ride which bodes well for her chances
6. NAMAR – Inconsistent but capable veteran mare with vast experience in similar contests.
Capable of making her presence felt
7. SILBACO’S SONG – Has looked distinctly ordinary for some time now, so his chances are
limited even at this level. Ignore
8. AGDUNE – Continues to struggle and is unlikely to trouble the judge here on the evidence of
her recent displays
9. LUCKY YOU – Has made progress competing at this level recently. Finished 4th last time and
could confirm that improvement
10. LAGOONE CHOPE – Sparked improvement last time to finish 4th at Vichy and could get a
look in here if confirming that form
11. GLASGOW LONDRES – Has been struggling to regain any form/consistency or spark the
improvement needed to play a role. Outsider
Summary : A winner at this level during the summer, TENNESSEE JOHN (2) has proved in both
subsequent outings that he remains competitive under a resultant penalty so is a serious
candidate for success here. PUMPY GIRL (5) has maintained a good level of form and
consistency and should also play a leading role in the finish. Unexposed COEUR DE ROUME (3)
is open to improvement on his handicap debut and must be respected, along with NAMAR (6) at
peak fitness after 2 comeback outings. LUCKY YOU (9) and LAGOONE CHOPE (10) complete
the shortlist.
SELECTIONS
TENNESSEE JOHN (2) – PUMPY GIRL (5) – COEUR DE ROUME (3) – NAMAR (6)
R8 – PRIX DE LIGNIERES – 2200m (a1 3/8m) – TURF – Divised Handicap – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 20.000
1. BAZOQUES – Out of sorts at present but has already proven herself at this level, so is capable
of doing better given a drop in the weights
2. DUKE OF CONKER – Nearing a return to winning ways, finishing 2nd in his last two starts.
Sets the standard here and is an obvious candidate for success
3. ZILYA – Inconsistent filly but is not entirely incapable, though did struggle under a penalty last
time. Others preferred
4. NOBODY’S – Consistent for the most part and has sound form references. More of a place
chance than a winning one
5. LUCKY CHARLIE – Gaining momentum and has shown improvement in his last two starts.
More needed to stake a claim here
6. KALEO PALACE – Bounced back to form when finishing 2nd on his return from a rest last time
and should have more to offer
7. PENCLAUDJEANGREEN – Has lost his form and finished unplaced (9th) in his only outing this
year, though could do better in a handicap dropped 3,5kg in the weights
8. POPORO – Recent winner whose last start in this category yielded a 2nd place finish. Will
make his presence felt
9. ELIZABEA – Finished an encouraging 3rd in her only start this year and will be competitive
with any improvement given rider’s 1,5kg allowance
10. GAMECHANGER – Unreliable but seldom finishes far off the mark on a going day. Hard to
trust but is as hard to rule out
11. PERFECT ROSE – Took advantage of a drop in the weights by winning last time but will have
it all to do under a penalty (2kg) now
Summary : DUKE OF CONKER (2) has, by finishing 2nd in consecutive starts at this level
recently, been threatening to win and is the most likely winner of this concluding contest with
Manon Germain, under whom he runs well, engaged once more and taking a useful 2,5kg of the
back. KALEO PALACE (6) also finished 2nd last time and is back in a handicap off a reduced
(2,5kg) mark, so is likely to pose a threat along with POPORO (8), who won well at La Teste-deBuch last time and ought to remain competitive. ELIZABEA (9), PENCLAUDJEANGREEN (7),
and BAZOQUES (1) complete the shortlist.
