The Prix du Moulin de Longchamp is a prestigious Group 1 race held at France Galop’s Longchamp racecourse, open to three-year-olds and older horses and run under Weight-For-Age conditions.
Spanning a distance of 1600 meters, the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp was inaugurated in 1957.
In 2002, Rock Of Gibraltar secured his seventh consecutive Group 1 win by triumphing in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, marking the end of his illustrious career. Australian horse Starcraft, under the training of Luca Cumani’s during his 2005 season, clinched victory in this race before winning the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
The 2019 event stirred controversy when Circus Maximus, ridden by Ryan Moore, veered off course onto Romanised’s path. Despite a protest, Circus Maximus retained the win. The 2021 edition saw Baaeed achieve his first major victory, setting the stage for subsequent wins in races like the QEII Stakes and Lockinge Stakes, ultimately solidifying his status as a legendary horse in 2022.
