Last season’s second-best ranked jockey, Vincent Ho will miss Sunday’s season opener at Sha Tin as he continues to recover from injuries sustained in a horror fall in Japan in July.
Ho fractured his T5 vertebra at Niigata racecourse on 29 July, which ended a summer riding stint which included a trip to the UK to ride at Glorious Goodwood and in the Shergar Cup.
While Ho was aiming for a return to the saddle this Sunday, he advised the Hong Kong Jockey Club on Monday he will instead resume riding on September 17.
Ng-trained duo Korea bound
Trainer Pierre Ng’s duo Apache Pass and Duke Wai departed from Sha Tin racecourse for Seoul, South Korea on Monday afternoon.
The pair will tackle the annual International races there, with Apache Pass entered for the G3 Korea Cup (1800m) while Duke Wai will compete in the G3 Korea Sprint (1200m), both races staged on the sand track this Sunday.

Last year, Computer Patch and Kings Shield represented Hong Kong in Korea’s international features, but failed to make an impression. The Tony Millard-trained Super Jockey created history in 2016 as Hong Kong’s first horse to race in Korea while also winning the inaugural edition of the Korea Sprint.
