A New Zealand-bred performer, KHAYYAM, looks ready to strike second-up when he steps out in the 1175m Supreme C contest at Kuala Lumpur this Sunday.
Following an eight-and-a-half-month hiatus from racing, KHAYYAM defied the long odds when resuming here over 1200m on August 6.
The five-year-old ran home resolutely at his first run in Class 3 company, finishing a half-length 2nd behind the subsequent winner, Titan Pegasus.
KHAYYAM proved successful second up in his previous preparation back in October last year, and despite the increase in weight, he should still prove hard to beat.
Ryker, the master of KL
Eight-year-old galloper, MASTER RYKER, will receive his opportunity to break the Malaysian duck in the 1275m Class 4 contest at Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
MASTER RYKER has started twice in the country, recording an unplaced effort when first-up for five months, followed by a fast-finishing 2nd over 1300m here on August 5.
The Charles Leck-prepared gelding started odds-on favorite that day and was a fraction unlucky after receiving a slight brush at the 200m mark.
MASTER RYKER will be freshened up from that performance but appears to be holding form with a strong trial Tuesday week ago. He appears capable of breaking the winning drought since his solitary Singapore victory recorded in August last year.
