With the early scratching of Strong N Powerful, only a small field of five will face the starter in the high grade Mid – Autumn Festival Stakes over 1400m (Race 4).
The lightly raced TEOCHEW KID (3) has raced well this year recording two wins from four starts and is capable of breaking through in this grade. The 7yo looked impressive with successive victories back in March and April, producing a quick turn of acceleration on both occasions to nail his rivals. He displayed that familiar racing pattern when resuming here on August 26 with a fast-finishing 3rd over the 1300m trip and a return victory is on the cards. SILENT BOSS (6) has progressed nicely through the grades and returned to his best form with a decisive five length win in KL a fortnight ago. The 9yo raced wide for a portion of the 1250m and with five wins at 1400m, he is a genuine chance of going back-to-back. STRONG N BEST (1) should be peaking following two starts in Malaysia and will find this assignment much easier compared to his unplaced effort in a Supreme A contest in KL six days ago. RELAU STAR (4) doesn’t win often nowadays but is always worth putting in for the trifecta.
Race 4 Selections: 3, 6, 1, 4
The 1300m Lantern Mooncake Festival Handicap (Race 5) is an open affair LAGO DE COMO (7), GEORGETOWN (3) and NOVA FALCON (6) filled the trifecta in that order in a Class 4 contest here on August 26 and the trio are set for a rematch this Saturday. LAGO DE COMO (7) finally broke through at his thirteenth attempt in Class 4 company with a featherweight and is capable repeating the dose. However, GEORGETOWN (3) will be meeting him much better at the weights and is likely to reverse the result. NOVA FALCON (6) started huge odds in the race and can be hard to follow at times while FAST AND SUPER (4) has been supported in recent runs and can bounce back to winning form. THE BOSS (1) ran a credible 3rd against high grade opposition in KL two weeks back and considering the former Australian galloper is still a maiden, he can defy the challenge with the top weight of 59kg.
Race 5 Selections: 3, 4, 7, 1
DOCTOR GINGER (1) will be aiming for successive wins in the 1100m Dragon Boat Festival Handicap (Race 7). The 8yo does look the logical leader after led throughout over 1200m here at the last meeting and will carry 3 kg more from that winning performance. BALL AND CHAIN (5) has a tendency to mix his form but the gelding has picked up two Class 4 wins in his career and looks a chance on best form. KRATOS (7) will pick up a race for the K Coetzee stable soon and appears well weighted on the 53kg. GENERAL NIX (2) is proven at this grade and is one to watch first up from a bleeding attack.
Race 7 Selections: 1, 5, 7, 2
